depends on the city you live in ... most cities have a fairly low car theft rate - so the police aren't that excited by it

In a lot of cases you don't want the police to find your car if its stolen, because insurance wont cover a lot of performance accesories you add.

Thats why you pay a little extra & insure it for what its worth to you. My Vette's insurance is double what the insurance company thinks its worth due to the rarity. I think Lo-jack is a good idea, its just to bad all cop cars dont have Lo-Jack tracking equipment.

I know of people in LA who had Lojack , got thier cars back before they were stripped. They had the early warning system, so they were notified when it was being moved without authorization. The Police entered the lockjack number, traced the car and recovered it. It's a good idea as long as it is available in the area you live. In an area like Boise, ID, for example, they can't track it, worthless. In an area like LA where they can, I think its a good idea, especially the Lojack early warning system, the one where you are noticfied if your car is being boosted. So, lets say, you are eating dinner, get a call, find out your car is moving without authorization. You can right then call the police and have it tracked. As for insurence? Lojack isn't a car alarm, it's a theft recovery deivce. If you have the early warning system, you will know your car is being boosted within mintues, and they can track in asap. The idea is you recover the car, whole, before it is stripped. If you have a type-r, look into it. It will help you recover your car in one piece if it is jacked, weather you have aftermarket parts on it or not. In one peice is always better than recovering it after its stripped. Eum.. why not get one of those car-alarms with GPS and a GSM Cellphone-plugin, then you'll get an SMS when the alarm goes off and you can even SMS it right back to tell it what to do, even to stop the car dead in it's tracks if you should want to, or activate som evil app. you have mounted, f ex mace or pepper spray or such..
*evilgrin*
and since it's got GPS you get the location within 5-10 meters..

Lojack is bout $800 I belive Also, thats kind the idea....GPS tracks your car, lojack calls you when the car is tampered with. police can track it on the lojack GPS. If there is another company out that does something similar, please, what company is it and where can I get the info?
