there are tons of places to get parts for your 20R. check out www.lcengineering.com they have all kinds of great stuff including fully built engines, turbo kits, cams etc. the 20R and 22R respond excellent to mods. the parts i have installed on my car right now include. a stock 20R bottem end, lc engineering stage 2 (offroad)cam, 22R aluminum rockers, hedman headers, 2 1/4 inch exhaust all the way through, and an edlebrock 1408 series 4 barrel carb with lc engineering 4 barrel manifold. im guessing my car is putting out between 115-130 hp which is a huge improvement on the stock 76hp. all the parts installed on my car right now only cost me about $480. i bought the cam used and the rockers were free.
what i have in my garage being built will really kick ass and my goal is 250hp to the wheels and 350hp+ on race gas.
its an early model 22R block from an 81 celica, with a ported and polished 20R head, 48mm intake and 40mm exhaust valves, the same cam i have now will be put in, will use lc Engineering pro camshaft kit, LC pro rocker shafts, custom made aluminun roller rockers, knife-egded 22R crank, LC pro rods, LC low compression pistons, holly 2000cfm 4 barrel throttle body, LC 4 barrel intake, custom turbo manifold, garret ball bearing turbo, sds engine managment, ARP studs, Pertronix second strike ignition, LC pro distributor. ACCEL spark plug wires, bosch wideband O2 sensor, overdrive pullys, adjustable cam gear. etc.
so far ive only got the head done and the turbo plumbing but ive already put about $2500 into it for all the head work valves valve seats camshaft kit etc.
another great engine for these cars is the 18RG. DOHC 8000RPM redline. they make about 130hp stock depending on which version you get and come stock with dual mikuni carbs. e-mail this guy TIm at Tims toys. he'll hook you up with all the rare japan engines 18RGs will run you about $1000 in good running condition but are well worht it.
