you need a custom manufactured turbo manifold and crossover pipe.. and alot of other things.. since there's no turbo for a 3100 on the market. you need to make some modifications to your mindset too 'cuz a turbo 3100 is a custom job that may cost you more than your malibu to develop. what your asking takes a book to answer, and that's why no one but idiot me has replied. check out 60degreev6.com for info about your engine, and have a NICE day.

Here is a 3100 Turbo Kit: http://www.andysautosport.com/chevy/97_01malibusuperchargers.html

RSM Supercharger Kits

Features:

There are many ways to increase performance on your vehicle. Supercharging is the easiest and the most cost effective means of adding an average of 46% more horsepower and 31% torque to your vehicle. Add up the cost and time involved and extensive internal engine upgrades and you will find it will compromise drivability, emissions, and will not deliver the performance you expected for considerably more money than a RSM racing, Vortech supercharging system. RSM utilizes a Vortech supercharger system, which offer more horsepower per dollar and install in less time than performing internal engine modifications.

:nono: come on its a SUPERCHARGER NOT!!! A TURBO use your head :banghead: :lol2:

but no not to much moding to put it in not much at all just the norm like battery location and a couple other minor adjustments easy stuff if you do it yourself and stay at it you can take out the job in less than a day easy but this is a big install if you do not know what the hell you are doing so if its your first leave it to someone else or have someone who has put in a charger before help you out:sunglasse

Don't you have to upgrade the transmission before doing anything like this? I thought I read somewhere that the 3.1L engine puts out 190ft/lbs of torque and that's all the stock tranny is rated for...

I made a t3/4 turbo manifold; full 3 inch exhaust; intercooler; full dei co2 sprayer kit with fuel cooler, intercooler sprayer and intake charge cooler; custom intake; 50 shot nitrous with nitrous enrichment tank; ported and polished intake manifold; bigger throttle body; water sprayer for the radiator; custom stand alone ecu

P.S.
just had it on the dyno
and it made 347 hp and
313 ft/lb and this thing
is fast

wow...sounds like alot of work. You didn't have to do anything to the bottom have of the motor to support this kind of hp?

here is a full turbo kit

http://www.jdsperformance.com/index.asp?fcmd=item&initemuid=591

another

http://itsturbo.net/products/products92a6.html?view=robot&qcategory=Turbo%20Kits&qvendor=ITS&qtype=Pontiac+Grand+AM

and the one i have i modified it to get over 400 in both h and t
(its the same kit as jds performance)

http://www.turbochargedpower.com/99-04%20Grand%20Am.htm

and by the way the 3400 is the same engine as the 3100 just with a larger bore

and if you go to the same power levels as me then you need to not only build the engine but also build the tranny and i got mine from domestic performance i also cryo treated the tranny and engine in full and i got a custom gearset mad so the engine would run right were the power band is

domestic performance:

http://www.domesticperformance.com/

and for the tranny

http://www.domesticperformance.com/product_info.php?products_id=268

now go build that monster of an engine

p.s.
am going to reach for numbers in the 500's in the next month

another thing our engine are a basic design built much like a chevy push rod v8 so you can go far on pump gas without much tuning though i would advise you to use a stand alone fuel management unit as i am if you go over 325 or better yet 300
