you might not understand, what i'm trying to really say is why do people on here ask so many question's about non/imporant issues revolving around the skyline when they don't even own one.

A lot of it is curiosity. It is not bad and actuall encouraged. The only thing is when you get stupid questions when one should know the answer or the answer can be found in the forums here.
Remember there is a lot of bogus information floating on the internet now a days and there are so many mis-informed people. Hence the only time I get a bit short with a person is when they continually ask questions about laws and how to get around them, when it is plainly stated what is to be expected.

Who's to say they're never going to own one? An R32 GT-S is relatively inexpensive to purchase, and MotoRex only charges $16,000 to convert it. Thus, one could own a US legal Skyline for well under $25,000; is that stratospherically beyond the reach of most people? Maybe, but it's certainly much more attainable than an R34 GT-R, no?. So sure, most people will never get an R34 GT-R, but I think an R32 is well within practical range. I can't afford one at the moment, but in a few years, I can definitely see one sitting in my garage : ). And as for why we get so hyped about it, I think it's the mystique of owning a car that Nissan didn't want us to have--the forbidden fruit, as it were. It also seems to represent a rather pure sports-car with the FR (for the GT-S anyway) layout and the respectable (and potentially awe-inspiring) power output. There's also the inherent exclusivity of owning such a rare car. I see no fewer than five Porsches a day around here, and I've seen at least 2 Ferraris this week (one 360 dead on the side of the road--how sad!); but I've never seen a single Skyline. So what's not to get hyped up about?

I agree with you both, WOW i just noticed the smilies we got, COOL, we got some really interesting one's now, oh sorry, got off-topic, well you both made your ponit and you stated your opinion's very well but eneck's i'm sure you would opt to spend some extra dough on a r32 gtr not on the gts, come on i know how it work's, i know everyone's type of mentality(well not everyone's) when they're looking for a skyline, i would prefer not waste 25k for a late 80's-early 90's gts which is equipped with the very vulnerable weed wacker, only some 2.0l, although i've seen big number's on this engine everyone is willing to spend a bit more for the gtr and the ever so potent rb26 twin turbo engine it's equipped with which is alot less xpensive to tune and with very few mod's you can get bigger hp number's than a highly modded r32 gts engine, it has more displacement and all the goodies!wouldn't you agree?

yeah, in the u.k. for about 8k usd you can buy a r32 in so-so condition with exhaust, intake and decat, but i've seen that a r34 gtr m-spec nur at propsec going for 66k british pound's equalling to about 105k usd!
doesn't mean that all r34's are expensive though.

NZ$3000 buys a base model r32 here,4-5k buys a beat-up r32 With a 6 banger in it.

i'm pretty sure i understand what omegasky is talking about...
we're both from the states, so go to the US forum under skylines, and you'll see what he means.
there's so much stupid "trick the system" question/answer stuff, and all sorts of "what about this?" questioning for people who can't realize that there's only one way, for a while, anyways, to get a skyline in the states.
people don't realize or understand that, and that's why he's asking. i feel the same way, and have been one to gently (firmly?) nudge these people into understanding what the real answer is and how things work.
it just gets old to see the same question, b/c that's really all the US forum is, which is a waste of a forum, and i know that razorgtr specifically feels the same way that omega and i do...
it's not that "someday these people will own one" so they can ask whatever questions, it's that they are dreaming and trying to find ways to cheat the system. there's only one way. if that changes, i'm sure it'll be posted with big flashing lights about how you can now, legally, get your skyline in the states cheaper.
until that happens... stop asking the same damn question...

have to say, you emphasized it all and doing so in a better way too, wow, you certainly took the word's right out of my mouth. You prrety much summed up what I was thinking, although I think that the u.s. really isn't a waste, shall i say it wasn't meant to be a waste or a forum where kid's post the same thing about how to cheat the system over and over again.
you certainly know your stuff, take that as a very good compliment.

much appreciated...
but yeah, it's not a waste, and before (about a year ago), it wasn't such a "cheat the system q/a forum". it used to be pretty good, but now so many people are playing the "what if" game about how they can scam the gov't to get something here that they can't afford anyways...
maybe, 10 years down the road, i could afford one. i'll worry about it then.
i'm just sick of saying "look at the stickies at the top", or "no, you can't do anything like that, talk to motorex or sean at rbmotoring, and they'll tell you what's up".
how many threads say that?
i'm glad that kind of stuff gets deleted from the general forum instead of being left there...
maybe we should get the mods to crack down on the US forum a little more, to get those kinds of threads deleted, so they don't clog the forum...
hmm... that's a thought...

I can see Omegasky's point as far as waste of time, useless questions and hypothesizing...I don't own a Skyline and will probably always aspire to have one...I check out this forum and information about the GTR because I am simply an enthusiast and feel that the Skyline is one of the most amazing vehicles to ever be produced...But I certainly don't post bogus info or ask questions that have no use...

As for myself I am waiting until someone is able to compete with MotoRex and bring the compliancing prices down. That is because when it comes time for me to move back to the states you can bet your sweet bickies my baby is coming with me.
