1991 325IC M Technic

I am looking to enter the world of BMW's! I have the opportunity to purchase a 1991 325ic M Technic. It has only 39000 miles and is in excellent shape. I am looking for feed back on the reliability of this model. Also, how much more value does the M Technic designation add to the car. Any input that I get would be greatly appreciated!
