okay guys, i had a nasty virus and it took me two weeks to get it fixed, but im back....

my freind has a 2000 cav, and were workin on his exhaust, he wants to cut-out his cat. converters and just put a straight pipe in there... Someone told him that theres an o2 sensor in the cat and that you cant just cut it out like that..... i had a muffler shop put my muffler and high-flow cat on, so i dont know anything about it....

so, my question is, is there any reason, why he cant cut-out his cat? other than its illegal...

The downstream 02 sensor will show a rich mixture and probably throw some codes and the PCM will most likely try and correct this by leaning out the A/F mixture and will result in burnt valves. This is the worst case scenario. There may be a kit to make the downstream (Post cat) 02 sensor send 14:1 signals to the PCM but I am not sure of where you would get the kits or workaround sorry.

well i just cut out my cat and am running strait pipes and seem to have no probs with it. but i know that rksport does sell a O2 simulator for that reason it tells you computer that its there and working so everything is normal. but ive had no noticeable probs with mine..just smells alittle more

when you first put just straight pipes in did you hear your valves tapping for the first 50 miles? i put a high flow cat and header on mine and it tapped for a while. also, does your car hesitate when you first start it and drive? mine does and i'm trying to isolate the problem
