New Mustang in need of power

I just bought a 2003 Mustang GT conv. My neighbor, a teenage machinist that is working on a 1970 Chevy Nova SS (big 350 engine), is bent on smoking my newer car. Luckily I have a bit more money that I can put into mine, but the question is, what would beat (let alone keep up with) an old monster like that?
I've already ordered the H-Pipe and Dual Exhaust kit by MAC, am waiting on the superchip, and was going to put some UD pulleys in, and eventually put a better trans in, but what else would it take to stay "king of the road"?

Honestly it depends what he makes for HP/Torque and the end weight of his Nova. Most likely he will be heavier so you already need less HP. First of get 3.73 rear-gears before anything else. Should be any Mustang owners first mod. Second, I really need to know what times you are trying to run to tell you what you need to beat ya neighbor.

The best thing to do on any new mustang (besides what you have already done) is to slap a blower on that baby. Easy, reliable, and adds great power. If your neighbor is just rebuilding the 350 to near original specs, then you shouldn't have to big of a problem. If he mods the motor, then you will obviously be up against more.

BigDanTheMan: Typo, yes, they duels come stock, thankx for noting it.

As for my neighbor's Nova, he is currently only rebuilding it, but plans on modding it ASAP/$ permitting. I'm not sure what he's planning on rear-end wise, but I believe it'll be a quick drag instead of a long-runner...he's can't wait for anything  However, as for modifying my runner, everything must be legal, as I drive it around to work/etc. More importantly, I live in California, perhaps the worst state for modifying roadsters. For example, I'm not sure as to the legality of blowers on newer (must be smogged) cars...by the way, the MAC exhaust system is better than Flos as far as performance...right?

Yes, I'm an idiot when is comes to working on cars! I'm no mechanic. I just buy them and have fun picking up girls! :grinno:
