dealer options in 89

my 89 sedan dx only has the driver's side mirror. is the dx such a basic model it didn't even come with two mirrors? i asked my grandma about it and she said she didn't even notice. :smile: she also said the car wasn't supposed to have AC but the dealer had it put in. i wonder why. anyone else with the dx sedan only have one mirror and no air? oh and we ended up taking the air out anyways. no power for that!
we are gonna put the integra mirrors on my car. i am excited cause i like things symmetrical.

Not to say your stupid or anything but are you sure its a dx and not an STD? The STD's only had one mirror. Personally ive never heard of a dx with one mirror but we learn something new about different models every once in a while.

There is no STD in 4 door dude. my dx came with one mirror and no a/c. I found a mirror at my local pick and pull and now have one :D I see alot of hatches and dx 4 doors that dont have a side mirror.

oh shit, I forgot she had a sedan. My bad.

i would have to be pretty damn stupid to not know what model my car is.

i know on my friends '89 civic dx hatch it only came with one mirror so i don't see why on a dx sedan it couldn't be the same.

i think it's funny the dx didn't come with one. i mean..it is safer! wonder if any other cars are like that. i don't think i've noticed any others. maybe it's a unique honda trait. i think it's smart they left the ac out. my car was sooo slow with it on, i never used it.

i think they didnt come with the left mirror cause laws say u only need 2 mirrors to drive legaly(right side and rear), but my dx has two

heh shoulda got a crx... they came with all of thier mirrors

You only need the passenger side mirror by law, lots of smaller cars get jipped on that. (older ones) My friends Starlet didn't have a passenger mirror and I used to make fun, until I bought my Civic and it didn't have one. :( It was a dealer option. :(

So was AC, so was the in dash clock.

This is how I got my passenger mirror on my Civic...i ripped it off an LX (power mirrors) and just cut the wires...you never really need to adjust it and it looks cleaner not having the little dildo sticking into the car :thumbsup:

And dmcgirl...looks like everyone already said it. The right-side mirror on a DX was in fact an option....and if you do find one from a hatch or CRX in a junkyard, the trim pieces are a little different...so try to find an LX or EX sedan if you want the mirror..it certainly looks better with two! :bigthumb:

Where do you live that you can rip out your A/C? It gets so damn sticky here in MD that I can't stand it when in work clothes in the afternoon without the A/C - today's forecast...hazy hot & humid, high 90! :eek:

damn, I'd trade ya my mirror for your A/C anyday! I've got a dx hatch, it's got dualies for mirrors, but no a/c or clock.

Here's another question tho', did anyone's civic come with floor mats? mine didn't.

Yeah, the mats were an option as well. BTY, they are no longer available to order from the dealer.:mad:

My 89 dx hatch only has 1 mirror as well and I actually think it's pretty cool! heheh

and if u look in some magazines the hatchbacks that they hook up for track racing, they take off the passenger mirror so it kinda serves some purpose....

What's the relevance? You might think its funny to know that I live with half an hour drive from over 10 junk yards too. One being just 5 minutes from my house.
I don't really care about the 1 mirror that much. :confused: Its a freakin' mirror and whoever had it before me was obviously fine with it from 1991 to 2000, so....

i'm in chicago and it does get hot here but i just deal with it. i never use the ac in my other cars or in the house. guess i just got myself used to it. or it's my spanish blood and i like it hot! :smile:
i got the clock from a junkyard but i didn't think about the mirror at the time. got one now though. oh and my car came with floor mats.

Haha...in 1995 when I first bought my car, I had my Dad spend $85 on the clock from the dealer as a Christmas present. Now I see them ALL the time in the junkyards - :lol: - I don't tell my old man that tho :eek:

The mirrors actually cause quite a bit of drag at highway speeds (stick your hand out the window and you can guess what it's like for two of them out there 24/7) your mileage will drop 1 or 2 MPG with the 2nd mirror...this is probably why they remove them for drag racing...I wish mine folded in like the JDM ones so I could reduce the drag for racing :thumbsup:

so anyways, i got a set of mats at autozone ... and then later got an all weather floormat for the drivers side which is great when its raining or i go to the snow.

When I bought my DX it only had the driver's side mirror. I ended up taking one off a 4dr EX (had to grab the painted door handles too :biggrin: ) & modifying the trim piece to fit. For some reason the 4dr A-pillar doesn't slope back at the same degree as the h/b. The mirror fits fine & there's no air/water leaks...

Mine also came with A/C...but no dash clock (which I also added later).

yeah..the trim pieces are slightly different...I remember seeing some pics somewhere on this board about them being different...maybe a search would help here :loser:

As far as I know the dx only came with one mirror....i know that my bf had a 88 honda civic hb, it was the dx model and it only had one mirror too..
