only bad part is the relatively low top speed... but hey...
i like the wheels
it is pretty sweet
it is almost as cool as the crazy funkin thing that they have in europe that is some race derived mini monster...
it has been on motorvision on speed vision
looks like a bug, yoko x pattern tires... schweet shit

hell you can always give it a higher top end... but yea a 4 cylinder is a pain about top speeds.. but how many times have you raced past 130? :)

03-29-2001, 02:37 PM
that is a sweet car
another site says that it has 192 hp
i dont know which is right
the elise 122 hp can get 0-60 in 5.6, thats crazy too

well... ive raced to 130ish in my 3gen lude... but that is about where it is over... and i only have 140ish hp and it is geared to about 140 @7000 rpm... but that is just a hair past peak @ 6500... unsafe there...
so i think that my car can do 135 ish... but if it was geared for higher i am sure i could race faster... and i would... hehehe

do you ever go past redline? i got mine to within 1000 of redline and i was going bout 125 i think i could do 140 i have a 4th gen lude and it says 140 on the tac..
flylwsi
03-29-2001, 11:37 PM
well... the 3gen redline is like 7k... so that is the extent of the motor...
anything over 6500 is pointless anyways, so redline on that car is an excercise in excess...
no vtec means no fun at redline like you got.
it is also hard to get someone to commit that fast of a speed... 120 is kinda tops, and i hit my 130 to pass.. then i slowed...
but there is always traffic to contend with
so i dont think i will see the prescribed 140 on the speedo... not with out a broken part as a result...
but i will try.. oh i will try

besides gas mileage is there anything that can be hurt from keeping your car revved high? i always shift at like 3200 rpms's anyways to save gas.. unless im racin of course...
flylwsi
03-30-2001, 04:14 PM
other than mileage i doubt it... it may cause quicker wear and all that... but everyone will tell you that...
i think that it is important to redline at least once a day... to clean and shit... carbon deposit bad!!!
other than that...
people will note the increased wear, but it isnt like you are eating clutches every wk or anything... so i say no...
they were built to run that high an rpm

i once raced a vr6 jetta on the highway and it's the fastest i ever gotten my lude up to. we was racing steady at like 100mph untill the vtec monster in me rose out and i started really going at it. i only hit 134mph but the jetta stopped at like 120mph(he probably could have taken me) but you're right most people stop at like 120ish.

Damn thats a sweet car ! If it were a little bit ....sharper not as round and the top speed was up to the 160s ...even thought i dont think i would drive that fast i probably shit a brick in my pants .....i would get it :D I love the quickness of that car and how its so light . Brett i see what you were telling me tonite about this car .

as long as it is a vr6... they are fukkin quick...
i drove a 97 gti new on the lot, and it was sick how much power they had...
they are around the same weight as a lude, but the motor is a 6, so they have more torque. it is also only a 2 valve per cyl design, which gives more torque vs our complex layouts...
it is a fast car though, there are tons of people that were in sho that agreed that it could kill a civic si, and some that believe that it is a fair straight line match for a lude... as for corners though... not nearly as good...

Two word "weight difference"
flylwsi
03-31-2001, 11:59 AM
vr6 is 2.8l motor w/ 176hp... similar torque number...
more torque than us
they weigh around 3k...
weight diff doesnt matter.
power to weight ratio does.
end of story.
i dont care if you weigh 300 lbs. if you only have 30 hp
and you race a car that is 3k w/300hp, it will be even.
but torque is important also... that changes the game a bit, ya know?

whats the weight of the 4th gen lude?
flylwsi
03-31-2001, 06:48 PM
i only know so much!!!
i think it is most likely similar...
www.hondaprelude.com/resources/4thgen/usdmspecs.asp
if this site is monitored, it is on h o n d a prelude... go to resources, then 4gen, then usdm specs...
the vtec is 2932, the si is 2866
vtec power is 190, si is 160
to me the big deal is the tq, which is 158 and 156... whereas the vr6 has similar tq and hp... much closer... ya know?
power to weight of vtec is 15.4 lbs per hp,
si is 17.9
and tq is 18.55 and 18.37
whereas the jetta has
18.9 lbs per hp and 18.27 lbs per tq
the numbers are at the least similar, but it depends on where the power is at... that makes the diff... the vr6 has lower tq, and the prelude is higher on both...
helpin?

check the registration ticket in your wallet, doesn't it tell you how much your cars weighs.

03-31-2001, 10:20 PM
hey... i reworked the numbers... the jetta was only 3198 (per scc in 97...i have it, honest), as opposed to 3290 that i was using... so that makes it
3198lbs/174hp= 18.379 lbs/hp
and
3198/181lb ft tq= 17.6685 lbs/ft lb tq
that makes it more feasible to be beaten by the jetta... and that isnt a bad thing.
remember though, it has to be a stick glx vr6. top o the line automobile there, all the bells and whistles.
so that is what you are lookin at.
3198lbs/174hp= 18.379 lbs/hp

just tryin to make the numbers known...
everyone thinks that their car is the shit ya know?
it isnt so unbeatable once you know the numbers... not like you cant beat one, but it wont be an easy romp... so you have to be good... thats all
just make sure your mods match somewhat, but remember that the same mods on a six get a bit more than a four...
the best way to tell would be to switch cars after, and race again

well... you know how the saying goes... "shoulda had a v8"
well... i would rather have an audi twin turbo six... that would be the shit. those can kill vettes almost stock... hehehe... and the s4 is sucha sleeper... i drove one and they are hella quick. almost too quick. and i have never felt brakes that good... it was like the stop on a rollercoaster... cray z ness...

i dont know i would like to have that v-6 TT on the supra with a few simple mods :).. or hell that twin turbo rotary on the rx-7 with a few mods... they would definately not see that comin :)... the only thing even keepin up with that is maybe the Z06 corvette :)..

actually, the supra is an inline six... the motor is similar to the one in the is300... it actually uses the motor they put in the nonturbo supra... but either way, w/ 320 hp stock, that supra would be crazy... and damn, 700hp is cheaply attainable... too much fun there... :D

they go fast since the cars weigh nothing. they are dangerous cars if you get into an accident since mass is one part or momentum. the more momentum someone has the better in a crash with another car. Also gearing in those cars seem lower. my lude maxed out at 148mph and yes I go 130 sometimes with other cars.

do ya need to go that fast? those things handle, that is why they are fun.... a mclaren handles, and goes really fast.. i would take that for fast. the lotus for fun corners...
