The speedometer on the 01 mustang v6 only goes up to 120mph. Is there a way to configure the chip so that the max is 160, like in the v8?

Yes you can get a custom chip to do that from companies such as Diablo or Autologic. They also do such things as rear gear swap recalibration etc.., Almost anything on the newer mustangs can be done by a custom chip.

Will a v6 even make it to 160?

Seeing as how a Toyota Echo can reach 110... I would think that perhaps the 6 can get to 160... it might take a few hours though :P

That's a big concern for me... how can I race vipers if I am electronically bound to be chasing Ford Probes? They can go faster... even with all the mods in the world under the hood.

I I were to get the chip sometime soon, I'd definitely switch in a GT speedo. and then I'd be here trying to get a tutorial on how not to f- up my car...

definately not stock, i think the v8 even has a little trouble getting to 160. After a few mods the v6 should be hitting over 120 so i was thinking on upgrading the speedometer.

speaking as a trained economist, your time and money would be spent better else where on your vehicle.

it's nothing against the v6 - just why get speedometer capable of a higher reading when you'll prob never get to go over 120 anyway, you shouldn't get over 120 on the road and you probably don't have the power for it in the first place. it's like getting a d-cup for your girlfriend when she's only an a... sure, d-cup sized breasts are nice to imagine - but would the bra offer the proper support required?

as for my spelling, i must confess that I'm horrible. I didn't know how to spell my full name until the fifth grade. daniel robert alvarado isn't even that hard either!
