Service Pack 1 problem

I recently did a re-install of Windows XP Pro and everytime I try to download the Service Pack 1 I keep getting this message:
"The following error occured while Service Pack 1 Setup attempted to download the Service Pack 1 files from the internet:
The server did not respond.
Server
http://xpSP1.microsoft.com/isapi/pstream3.dll/xp/SP1.USA.1106a.";
Then I went to the Service Pack website and selected the Problems download the Service Pack to no avail.
Does anyone know what I can do to get this pack. B/c from what I can tell I can't get any further Windows updates without it installed and I really don't want to order the cd from greedy Microsoft who makes you pay to get it??? Hope you can help.:confused: :confused:

What tech support? Microsoft? That'll be tought like Amish Kid said. I don't know what to do? If they would just fix their damn server then I wouldn't have this problem.

Hahahahahhaha good luck getting through right now, both of my brother's work for microsoft tech support they said there were over 1000 calls in queue yesterday and today from that w32 blaster worm.

BTW since you did a fresh install of Windows XP, you are vulnerable to W32 Blaster Worm, which I heard can cause users to have problems with connecting to the Windows update site. Do you have a firewall on? If not, just turn on the built-in XP firewall and maybe the download will work. But, Im not a computer expert so don't take my word for it.

Thanks, yea I do have a firewall. On The Screen Savers last night they said that if you have a firewall you should be just fine. And I ran the fixblast from symantec's website last night and said I didn't have it so so far so good.

A firewall is only useful in this case if it blocks the TCP port 135. If u have a firewall running and that port isn't running the worm will still be able to activate/propogate itself.

The problem itself also is that the service is based from trying out random IP's to overload the stack which causes WinXP to reboot or W2K to crash.
