computer chip?

HI, I have a 97 gp se 3.8L and i was thinking about doing some mod's to it. I have been told that putting a performance chip is a good idea. I was just woundering if any any one in here has, or have delt with them befor, if so which one's are the best ? So if anyone has any info, good or bad let me know, Thanks

Developed with the average 3800 enthusiast in mind, this calibration has been designed and dynamometer tested and proven for the following vehicle modifications installed:
- Cold air induction system (brand not applicable)
- Cat-back exhaust system (brand not applicable)
- Premium fuel (91+ octane)*
- Although the PCM calibration is designed for the above mods, it will also show a definite increase in performance on a stock GT.
- Additional modifications beyond what were used on the test vehicle may be used with caution. More radical modifications (such as camshaft changes and head porting, etc.) should consult with Digital Horsepower Inc. technical assistance first.
*NOTE: Premium fuel IS required.
FEATURES:
- Speed limiter removed
- 3-1 and 4-2 skip shifts
- Transmission line pressure increased
- Shift points moved (5800-6000rpms)
- Fan turn on points altered:
- 186 degree turn on
- 2 minute fan on at key-off (this feature activates when engine coolant is 179 degrees or greater)
- MAF calibration adjusted for proper operation and year
- Digital Horsepower Inc. fuel/spark adjustments:
- En-richens fuel delivery for critical problem areas
- Provides a consistent power gain across the entire power band
- Reduces spark retard (knock retard)
- Removes "40MPH WOT lag"
- Dynamometer testing has shown approximately 8-12HP in 60 degree temperatures on a development vehicle using 93 octane fuel.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Digital HP offers a unique offer for your DHP v1.0 PCM called "Re-Flash Guard". This provides for one re-flash to your PCM with the code purchased in the event of code overwrite (i.e. Dealer Re-flash). The unit returned MUST be the same as purchased and accompanied by ALL of the following 3 items below. Failure to provide any/all of the requirements will result in a returned unit including shipping charges incurred:

2.) Copy of your purchase receipt

Thank you Ripn the info, my next question is since chips and cold air intakes are arround the same amount of money, what one chip or FWI would I see the most hp gain. Im thinking the chip, right ? I would like to just do both but im gona be starting college again and $$'s tight

Get the DHP and a fwi (fenderwell intake)
http://www.intense-racing.com/ - click on "induction" that tubing and a K&N air filter and maybe some hose clamps should be all you need. Pretty cheap considering most of the CAIs are around 250

do you mean the SLP Cold-Air Induction Package, for $179.99 ? or are you just telling me to get a long tube and a air filter? and thaks for the help.

Ya, just get the tubing on that site or go to www.clubgp.com and do a search for FWI. There is a thread on how to make a fwi out of pvc pipe from Home Depot, but I think the Intense tubing is easier and cheaper.
I've seen this tubing on one of the Texas Clubgp members car. It's pretty thick and looks better in person then on te webstie.

yeah i saw that sight last night, way too much work. but the site was helpful thought, i disconnected my day time runing lights this morning. any ways, so the pipe and..... any suggestions on typ of k&n........model #......size ( 9" ) ?
