this was taken shortly after the paintjob. my car was cardinal red with some rust on the rear quarter panels. I sanded the entire car down and did all the body work. Eric did the actuall painting. We originally wanted to practice on another car first but we painted enough panels and glass enclosures, we thought what the hell! got the paint real cheap and with other supplies we spent around $500. All my friends said, why bother, if you aren't gonna spend a lot of money, just take it to Macco. WE wanted to do it. I did all that hard work and I am damn proud of it. Color sanding was my favorite part i love how it....feels. Buffing was fun too and my arms got a good workout. We still haven't done anything to the interior (except the recent integra seats) and i know maroon and blue don't mix well but oh well. i am more concerned with tinting the windows sometime in the near future. it'll all get done eventually. same with the bumpers. we meant to do those soon after but never did...it'll get done...i'll get my priorities straight!
I'll get some more pics up so you can actually see what i am blabbing about.

Thanks guys. the paint is actually the electron blue pearl. it was right after the new Si came out and i loved the color. we are gonna redo it sometime soon and i want either a brighter blue or a deeper color like cobalt. can't make up my mind.
we had a problem with the air and paint mix ratio during the clear coat. it had orange peel so i had to do more color sanding then normal. oh and color sanding is wet sanding. i sanded with the hose for a couple of days till my fingers were bleeding. but my hands had never been smoother! i was having a hard time getting the small divots out of the real bad spots. so i went one more coarser than i was supposed to. i need to learn that more is not always better. so i scratched up my new paint job in a few areas. and had to fix it with a lot of buffing. at least i learned a lot in the process. like what not to do. it's ironic becuase at first i was scared to buff out the orange peel so that's why i risked it with more sanding. then that caused me to have to buff a lot more. geez... it did turn out nice though. maybe a little rough around the edges but i'm not crying about it.

found an old pic of the konig toxxins i have on my car. my first rims where chromies, neeper i think. bought em used. better than stock at the time. i love these wheels now. at first i wanted white ones but i am so happy i went with polished. i have adjustable coilovers and we could have raised em a little but we rolled the fenders instead. turned out perfectly. after we painted the car, i got the red off of the center caps and i painted the axle nut black. oh and i've got the wings west RS front bumper.

Yo dmcgirl !!
NICE work on the Civic. I love that color..have you since painted your body kit pieces to match??
The 88-91 LX & EX sedans have the red "reflective" style rear-center piece.
The 88-89 DX sedans have the black center piece.
The 90-91 DX sedans have the red center piece.
I also did the Integra seat conversion. I used 90 Integra seats, because they had the same auto-seat belt system as the 90-91 sedans and it was a relatively easy swap..just a little grinding and swap over of Civic rail parts to the Integra rails.
Here is one pic, and the link to the whole thing below.

thanks shawn. i always wondered about the center panels. the integra seats swapped in a lot easier than i thought they would. we switched the one rail over too. i am gonna just keep using my seatbelts. the female seat belt part on the floor was able to be just angled backwards so they still fit in fine. my seats don't look as good as yours. i've got a tear in the drivers side but it's fixable. i could not believe what a difference the seats made!! so much more solid. i am very happy. what about the back seats? does anyone know if they would fit? they do look bigger maybe but i didn't look too hard. even with small modifications would they fit? i wouldn't want the head rests though.
jim glad you like the D. my civic is so small to me and then it's parked next to the D and it looks huge! ha ha.
off to go deal with emissions bullshit. wish me luck! our friend has rims on his D so we swapped the rear ones on in hopes that it can keep us off the dyno and some punk out of the drivers seat. the fronts won't fit cause the car is too low. hopefully the rears do the trick. they are always so cocky to us. i hate emissions.

I got lucky with these seats out of a 90 Integra LS in the junkyard for $35 each. No rips/tears and except for a little rust on the bottom from exposure, they are in great shape..I had to clean them pretty thoroughly to get rid of the glass, but a contractor grade shop-vac  did the trick there. This Integra was a hatchback, so the back seats were never gonna make it in the sedan.
I had a line on a 90 Integra sedan a while back from a buddy that blew the motor, but he didn't know how much I really wanted it and sold it to the shop that did his estimate when eh decided it wasn't worth it  I was already to sell the b18a engine for parts, swap rear-discs, analyze seat condition (maybe even rears!!) and whatever else I could sell off it. Boooo :loser:
The only correction to my list from earlier (before someone else decides to nit-pick) is that the EX sedan was only made in 90-91, so you won't find any 88-89 EXs :bigthumb:

that sucks about the integra. that's how we got this one. eric's an auto tech and the customer couldn't afford the work. so we got it for $600. also want to do the rear disc brakes and power windows in the front. woo hoo! the back seats do fit. gonna take a little modifying but they will work. i am going to take the rear head rests off cause i like my total visibility.
