That is awsome! You're so lucky there's a shop that works on Deloreans near you. I have to talk to people and find random people that have worked on Deloreans before.
This is my Delorean....

actually that's my house. my fiancee, Eric, and I work on them. there is always at least 2 Ds at our house. we do everything from small repairs to frame swaps and the occasional sound system install. we've stripped and swapped parts on a lot of damaged ones. 2 that were burnt to a crisp. very sad and that work made me sick to my stomach. we've swapped a few motors from different rolling chassis. i've got tons of pictures if you're interested!
Later, Marni
oh and you can see my little civic in the driveway. she's my first love.

oh and that black one is sharp looking. too bad you couldn't keep it. i am surprised you had to pay that much for one that needed so much engine work. you could have gotten yourself a twin turbo set up for that money. i am surprised it hasn't sold yet, what has it been over a year? ...are they asking way too much?

Yeah, it's been nearly a year and a half, since it's been there. I'm only getting $16k out of the deal. The price of the car plus repairs was roughly $27k out of my pocket, I learned the hard way to do research before buying a car. Now I'm just selling it to cut my losses.
BTW, could you tell me how to replace the rear speakers?
Oh, and I'd love to see some more pictures of your D:cool:

ummmmm......rear speakers......i know it doesn't sound very professional but fuck em. it such a small cabin that if you have any type of subwoofer enclosure and kicks with the dash speakers.....there really is no need for the speakers. we just disconnected ours. we sure as hell weren't gonna risk cracking that interior piece. they say to heat it up and stuff but we didn't want to mess with it.

oh and duh...that really sucks about your D. what was all the engine work done?
oh and you should know that someone has posted on cardomain pics of your car claiming it's theirs and they say it has the northstar in it. i know only 2 cars had that coversion and it wasn't that black one so i knew they were bullshitting right away.
that would piss me off if i saw my car posted as someone elses. dumbassess.

I couldn't access the site for a while, but I'm back!
Thanks for the photo. Where did you find that lift? I want to order one for my garage (hopefully it doesn't require drilling a big hole in the slab)!

we got ours from double park. http://www.doublepark.net/
you don't have to drill holes into the floor. i got this from their website FAQ.Q: Is the DP-7 lift free-standing or does it need to be anchored?A: The DP-7 lifts are free-standing and DO NOT need to be anchored. The lifts have been tested with 21,000 pounds free-standing and rated at a 7,000 pound capacity (See Cytech Test Report) (http://www.doublepark.net/testing.html). Note: The crossbars slide on the inside of the columns like commercial lifts. With an 11" square foot-pad for the column and the 8" slide inside the column there is stability created as the lift is raised into the air. With all free-standing four-post lifts that do not have a vehicle on the lift you will be able to "shove" the lift and see some movement - this movement is in there by design (like a skyscraper in the wind). No garage floor is perfectly level and this movement allows the lift to settle with the floor. Once a vehicle is placed on the lift and the weight is displaced over the tires of the of car and the four columns of the lift you will not be able to move the lift.
we got the castors for it so we can move it or push it outside when we have to work on a caravan or something.
we love it. makes things so much easier. just wish we had a bigger garage!!

edit.. ok. i am a little slow. i just read from another post that you are a D owner too. well Duh, Marni! i was thinking well, we've worked on VR4s before and we ARE an amazing duo but that's a far ways to go! anyways..... so what year and how long have you had her? what work do you need done? how many miles?
this is to DMC12 too, have you been to any of the DeLorean shows...ohio or memphis? I was at those two and then we may have met or something.

The D is my wife’s car which she got from here aunt about 12 years ago. She and I got married a year ago and moved her up here over the last few months. So we left it down in Lansing MI until we get our house situation all squared away up here. That not real close to Chicago, but much closer then here. Its hard to find someone who has the time and skills to work on the cars down there (even worse up here).
We had the fuel system replaced a couple years ago and the car does drive (though it is a bit rough). The biggest things it needs is interior work. Its been so long since I've been in the car, I don't remember how many miles it has. 70K is whats coming to mind. The next time I’m down in Lansing (which looks like upcoming holiday weekend) I can take some pics and get a fuller list to see if its things you’d even consider working on.
We haven't taken it to any shows but it would be nice to get it back into shape and maybe just do that.

well shit Yogs, sounds pretty awesome to me! my eyes lit up when i read interior work. we have a lot of experience with that and i really enjoy it. we've got an 82 over here now that we are working on the interior. the dash is poo brown and the headliners are hanging in your face. the A pillars look like they've melted. fun fun! let me know, like i said before, we are always up for anything.
pretty cool story too. not many ya hear about where it was the wife's car let alone given to her by her aunt. i'm sure there is a neat history with the car. you guys defientely need to go to some DeLorean shows. they'll change your life. :grinyes: not really but they are a shit load of fun.the one this coming summer in Pigeon Forge is gonna be huge so let's make it a goal to get your D in tip top shape!!
I don't know if you are on the DML but there is this guy, Fred, that is the unofficial DeLorean transporter. His price is decent and best of all he lives in Michigan! So we could arange for him to trailor it, if it's not completely road worthy.
ooohhh...i'm all excited now!
