i got a quick question for all you guys..(and girls).. i have a 1996 talon tsi fwd stock 5 speed and my friend has a 1996 talon esi with headers racing cat witch is gutted 3 inch exhast all they way out cold air intake accel 8mm wires and a msd ignition... and he wanted to know if i would race him.... do u think he has a chance????

i say go for it.. it will be close.. since you have a 95 why dont you do the free mod, with the upper i\c piping? dsm2nrs (www.dsmtunners.com) look in thins site..
in hte end he just might beat you tho.. only b\c he has lots of mods.. if you jus had intake n exhaust you would beat him with out a doubt..

TSi = 205 hp 220 lb/ft (stock)
ESi = 130 hp 140 lb/ft (stock)
Even with those mods, I don't think he has a chance.
I doubt those mods are going to add the 75 hp to match your car, let alone beat. Race him! And tell us how bad you beat him.:cheers:

HEY THANKS GUYS I CALLED HIM AND WE ARE GOING TO RUN TONIGHT ILL LET U KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!! AND JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS... I FORGOT TO MENTION... HE HAS ONLY RACED ONE OTHER CAR BEFORE THAT I KNOW OF FOR SURE A 1999 Z24 WITH A AIR FILTER AND MUFFLER TIP.... AND BEAT HIM BY LIKE ABOUT A CAR LENGTH... IS THAT GOOD NEWS FOR ME... NEVER RACED ANYONE IN MY CAR YET (PREVIOUS CARS YES) .... BUT I DO GO OUT ON COUNTY ROADS AND PRACTICE ALOT.... THANKS AGIAN!

hey guys.... just got to work this morning but i got some good news i raced him and won by probably a car and a half... but he wants a rematch on sat cuz he is installing a nitrous system, new feul injectors, and oversized cams on thursday..... i said i probably wont be able to bet him but look at it this way you have spent all this money on that car and mine is stock!!! lol :cwm27:

well maybe if you put on a intake and exhaust, next time you race he wont stand a chance... just og to pep boys or sumthin and get a k&n intake, trust me it will help, and you can go to buy a nice exhaust form on-line like a apex-i n1:biggrin:

You could buy a simple Manual Boost Controller for about $50 and crank up your boost to about 14 psi and still beat him ....... :lol:
Seriously , I don't think NOS and bigger cams is gonna help him. The bigger cams simply move the power up higher in the revs , and maybe give him a little more valve lift. He'll most likely bog the launch , or waste his NOS spinning his tires when he hits it. With a 50 shot of NOS and cams , he's prolly pushing right about the same HP as you are , but you have the advantage of AWD. USE IT. :cool: You could totally lose him on the launch if you did it right. You should have beaten him by a LOT more than a car and a 1/2 if you'd launched it right last race. DOn't sidestep the clutch ( :bloated: ) , But rev to like 5000 and let it out evenly. You'll be surprise how fast you shoot out of the hole , and revving it that high brings boost on long before the clutch is all the way out.
