Just got my B18c1 in my sol..but alot of people keep tellin me that they cant take abuse on high revs...AKA racing:biggrin: ...cuz the rods are too long....my question is is there anything i can do to fix that...while not lowering my performance...possibly increasing while fixing the problem. ALot of people say get a block guard, and someone from another forum said just get bigger rod screws. So im just wondering if there is anything i can do about it thanks.
Another things, whats a good size throttle body to go with for my car and good maker. Holley makes a 65Mm and a 68 MM ...im thinkin the68 MM is too big...but i could be wrong. I have a skunk2 IM as of now, aem CAI and exhaust with 2 1/4" piping from a catsound cat back.

honda motors are some of the most reliable motors on the planet, and were designed in a way to be able to with-stand high revs.
no it isn't the greatest thing for ur motor, but that isn't for the b18c1 alone. not many motors can handle racing 5-6 times a day every day for very long.
but rev'n up high doesn't hurt the motor, they were designed for it, so rev up an have fun.:bigthumb:

By high revs you don't mean like 9000rpm or anything do you?
P.S. I bet that's a fun ass car now!

nonono, i jus mean to the stock red-line, which to MOST cars is high rev'n. anything at 8000 an up isn't really TOO common compared to the other motors of the world.
yes there are others, but tons less rely on lower rpm to make their power.

When the engine is cold, baby it. Once it reaches FULL operating temperature, you can rev it all day, every day. That engine is bulletproof in stock configuration. Unless you're gonna play around with forced induction, forget the internal mods or the block guard or any of that shizzit. The rev limiter will flip you off before you hurt the engine, although it can't help if you mechanically overrev the engine by shoving it into second gear at high speed or something like that. By the way, power peaks at 7200 RPM on that (in stock form). Bouncing it off the rev limiter will not make you any faster.

As long as you have the stock ecu, you have nothing to worry about. That's what God created rev limiters for. :grinyes: If the ECU is reprogrammed with a higher redline you should watch the revs meticulously. I've rev'd pass redline by mistake and it scared the shit out of me.

i agree when its cold, baby it, but it doesn't reach max out-put til 7600 rpm. honestly on the track, u'll be faster taking it up to redline, w/ the less shifts, u'll run quicker than u will shifting lower.
this isn't tru for all motors i kno (others, not the b18c1), but for me, taking it jus past 8100, were the quickest times by far.

You might damage the motor more not drivin it like you stole it.. :smokin:
