hi. i got a speeding ticket tonite :( my first one. the officer wrote it up but

a) didnt ask for my registration (just my driver's license), and
b) i didnt sign the bottom of the ticket.

i have a couple of questions:

1/ because i didnt sign it, does that mean the ticket is invalid?
2/ because i didnt sign it, does it mean it can't be processed at ICBC?
3/ the ticket does not have the name of the owner, just the license plate number, vehicle make, vehicle type, and colour -- does this mean the ticket is invalid?
4/ if the ticket is invalid (because of the lack of my signature), does this mean i can throw it away or should i dispute it?

i live in vancouver, british columbia, Canada..

anyone who can help, please do.

Not 100% sure about Canada, but here in the US,

1/ No.
2/ No.
3/ No.
4/ It's valid, so question is irrelavent.

hello there...
cocolee?? HK singer rite !? haha
anyways i live in Richmond...

i know a frd who have got a ticket, but the RCMP filled out the wrong information... so he took it to court (dispute it)
you have a better chance to get off now cause of all the missing stuff...

so my suggestion is dispute it... 9 times of 10 you will win it
hope this helps:smile:

Better yet, don't speed and you won't get the tickets in the first place.

i'm going to try to dispute it.

another question:
have any of you gone for the Class 5 license test after your probational period in class 7?

how was it? difficult? easy?

No, you probably wouldn't. Florida is a long way away from here.

My dad got a ticket from the RCMP, but they copied down the wrong license plate number on the ticket. He disputed it, and the cop didn't show up so he won. Since you didn't sign it, you might have a chance because you could claim you wern't there at the time, but I don't think that would work very well. It's worth a try; and hope the cop doesn't show up.

I'm about to go for my class 7 road test next week. My brother already has his class 5. What do you mean by 'probational'?

once you get your class 7, there is a probational period of 18 months before you can take your class 5 test. its in the driving handbook near the back i think.
