In progress, like 2-3 years of it

Amt/Ertl's 1970 Chevelle SS 454. A two to three year progress. This board finally got my arse in gear to finish started models.

I had this thing painted three times. Finally got a paint I like on it, Plasti-Kote Insignia Red. This will be a stripe delete car. Engine is a 454 fuel injected super-ram. Wheels are 15" MRC Cragar SS's with Firestone wide Ovals, period correct if you will.

This time, I followed P-Man's painting technique and it produced fabulous results. Just waiting for it to finish drying.
Interior is pretty stock stripper wise.

Enjoy, and please any legitimate critiques would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Chris

I was happy up above, but I have now come to the conclusion that I cannot clear a model and I cannot polish a model. This stupid thing will be in the box another year.
Going to have to strip it and repaint it since the paint dulled upon compound and waxing.
Cleaned it up and though I would try to clear coat it with very very very very very bad results.......
Paint crazed and bubbled. I was using *gulp* krylon crystal clear.
So, I'll strip it and put it away. It really has me very very irritated to the point of chucking the whole damn kit.
Sorry.

Good bare metal foil work is all I can advise on the body. The engine is sound and you have a good wheel choice.

Black flocking on the floor of the interior and the package shelf is all I'd add. Good work. :bigthumb:

Yup, Adding foil after I polish her up. As for the flooring, it will be a stripper style so no flocking and no package shelf fuzz. Rubber mats and a cardboard shelf.
Thanks guys.

That's the exact color I painted my Camaro, but mine seems to be able to peel off..... :( Anyways, nice looking paintjob!

I have this kit. Its a POS (atleast mine was), i hvae to rebend the A-Pillar, and i have to re-scribe the panel lines.

Camaro--I had heard that this was a POS too, but I bought it anyway and was pleased with mine. It appears that some were good and some were not.
There was a lot of work done to the body to get rid of mold lines and had to add some filler, but all in all I am happy with it so far.
As for getting it altogether, well, that will be a different story since looking at the instruction sheet shows some very wierd ways of adding the firewall etc...
Thanks!
Chris

This kit is going to end up in the trash real quick.
Tried to compund and wax with horrible results.
Tried clearing with even worse results. I SUCK.
Now, I have to strip that POS and put it away again. Let it sit another year.
Hopefully the Porsche 928 I am working on won't do this.
