Hopefully it isn't a regional thing. I highly anticipate these sales!
I've heard of some stores having these sales and when I get to mine, no sale!!
Thanks!

Hobby Lobby is a nearly nationwide chain of craft stores in the US. They don't have a huge selection, but I've found a decent selection of US kits and a few Tamiyas here and there. If you're going to buy domestic kits, you might as well get 'em cheap!

check your sunday paper guys~!
the ad should be there, otherwise print this:
http://www.hobbylobby.com/site3/weekly/specials/specials.cfm
good until the 16th of August!
hobby lobby is indeed a craft store, but hidden in the back corner is the model section. from my experience, all the stores have the same stock, but hey - a small selection of TAMIYA kits is better than none!
good luck!

Cool. Just checked the Sunday Houston Chronicle. It's in there. I'm heading there during lunch (one near work), and on the way home (one near the house). Hopefully there will be some good kits in stock. Thanks for the heads up guys.

Corvette C5-R - Revell
1959 Corvette 3 n 1 - Revell
Yamaha Roadstar 1600 - Tamiya
They had a decenct amount of other kits available too.

Woohoo! 4 kits $28.15. Revell ITR, Viper, Z8, Porsche GT1. Unfortunately, the only Tamiya models they had were the Lotus Europa and the Jeep Cherokee. Hopefully there will be some others at another store.

just a heads up about what kits you might find there:
-most if not all revell kits.
-academy(?)
-AMT/ERTL
-select tamiya - lotus europa, jeep cherokee, porsche 911 GT3, Ford Focus RS WRC01, Toyota Lemans Car, assorted military, airplanes
don't bother searching around too many different stores - their stock is amazingly consistent!
hope this helps!

I was at that one last week (buying 1/2 price paint brushes), it never has the selection of a couple other stores in the area, but it did have more than usual-last sale the pickings were slim at that store. The store out in Lawrenceville off of 316 (on 120 near the Gwinnett Med. Ctr.) has a much better selection. The store in Acworth (on Bells Ferry Rd.) has the biggest/best selection of all, but it's way far away from me on the other side of town. It does pay to look around at various stores, at least in Atlanta where there are about 8 or 10 Hobby Lobby's in the vicinity.

I went to the one on Hwy 249 & Michel in Tomball. And then the one at Jones Rd & FM1960. That one had the Focus WRC 2001. What I'm really looking for is the Porsche GT3 and Ferrari 360. I've seen them at Hobbylobby before, but would never pay the original $35. I'm going to try the one at Hwy 6 & Clay Rd. tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks to this board I headed over there with my three sons today!
What great deals!
I still need to pick up the Porsche GT yet.
My Oldest son (11) picked out the RM Corvette Z06, My middle son (9) picked out the AMT 55 Nomad, my youngest (8) picked out the S'cool Bus and I think I got the best deal, the Revell of Germany Shelby Series 1, for $5.50. The tag on the box said $10.99 the other boxes said $27.50!
I was a happy guy.
I'll be heading back there by weeks end to get that Porsche and maybe the Focus Rally car.
Chris

Crossed fingers do work. Hit the Hobby Lobby near home, found the Porsche GT3 and Ferrari 360 I was looking for. Unfortunately, someone had ransacked the 360 kit (box open, stuff missing). But I did get the GT3 for $14. For those in Houston, they still have one left, if anyone is interested.

I picked up 7 kits this morning and a couple diorama goodies for a total of $49.07!
Revell '31 Model A Sedan (I seem to have quite a Model A collection going right now????)
Revell '71 GTX
Revell '70 Chevelle (a great kit to slam together! Paint it and forget it, lol)
Revell '63 Vette Roadster (hadda have it)
AMT '78 LRT
Polar Lights Ecto 1 (#3 - got a hearse and a flower car, this one will likely end up as a limo)
Revell '56 Chevy Del Ray (another?????)
Looked long and hard at the Tamiya Grand Cherokee, but couldn't figure out what I'd do with it. The other Tamiya kits were the Porsche 911 GT? (don't remember), the Lotus Europa, Focus WRC and a bunch of bikes.
My local Hobby Lobby doesn't have a great selection, but they're better than one of the local hobby shops! Lots of AMT kits, but I've been picking up lots of AMT stuff from Wally for $4.94! They didn't have the Supra or Eclipse anyway, and no Civic coupes either  .
I was hoping for their 1/3 off sale, doing the happy dance over 1/2 off!

This is the perfect chance for me to get a couple bikes and try my had at building something different. I wont be able to make it there till friday though :frown:
I also noticed that they have acrylic tube paints half price. I know alot of people who do Gundam models and thin down tube paints to spray through an airbrush. Has anyone here thought about thinning them down and using them on their models?

I got my last GT3 there for under $14. Sale runs through Saturday. What part of Atl. do you live? We've got a good model car club, ACME-that meets 3rd Sun. of every month in Smyrna at the community center, and we have a big show every November at the same place. It's near Auto Motif if you've heard of that. We're also involved in some "art in the park" thing at Centennial Park on the 23rd. We'll have a tent and will be bringing some of our models and doing a few simple demos.
