Sucks for @home users

Bankrupt cable Internet access provider Excite@Home said Tuesday that it could cease providing service to its 4.1 million U.S. customers on Friday if it cannot renegotiate agreements with the cable companies that carry its service.

Representatives of Redwood City, Calif.-based Excite@Home will appear in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in San Francisco on Friday, where a judge will decide whether to have the service blocked if current negotiations fail, spokeswoman Stephanie Xavier said.

"It depends on the decision of the judge," she said. "All I can say is we're in active negotiations with the cable companies. We're doing all that we can to maintain service."
Xavier said many of the cable companies that carry Excite@Home have informed users that their service could cease after Friday.

"They've been notifying them and giving them a heads-up,'' she said.

Thats going to suck for about 4.1 million people. I hope its noone here.

:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: Im a @home customer [kinda], but our service has been taken over by Shaw Cable in Calgary, Alberta. so I think im ok [I hope im ok]. I never really heard much about this before, and theres a hellova lot of @home customers that may get screwed over, by the sounds of things.

I will give shaw a call tomorrow just to make sure everything is hunky-dory [wow, that sounded nerdy]

i'll bet my provider will switch us all over to at&t. because i have a node to myself, i'm not losing cable.

I was mad when i heard this cause i use @home. but i hope at&t will be able to purchase excite@home, cause if i get dial up i won't be using the internet at all. i'm too spoiled with this cable crap:mad:

I just think that AOL Time warner should buy all of @home :D

That would help boost my stock. :)

I dont know if its all of excite or not. I just think their cable side.
