240sx audio project

I just picked up my S13 240sx (93 fastback). The rear seats have absolutly no use (far to close to front seats. I want to rip them out and replace them with some type of box. Hoping to have room for a couple subs and an area where I can install a small nitrous bottle out of site. I was wondering if anyone had ever attempted the rear seat replacment or if anyone has any tips on where to start. Thanks for the info.

I have a friend that ripped out his rear seats and went to his trunk in his honda civic and setup two twelves in a bandpass box, best bass that car ever had

yea it wont be that hard. you will probably need to construct your own box. what id do is put it on a hinge mouned from the top of the trunk inersect and screw that to the bord then have it just come down flush with where the bottom of the seat extended to this will give you a rather large compartment. now id get some carpet thats the same color as the original, close to it, or an accent color and carpet this piece of wood and make sure to join it to the top carpet so it looks like one piece. now you have a nice large compartment to hide your no2 bottle with easy access. all you need is a simple twist knob latch on the underside of that to keep it from bouncint up and down. or run the carpet about 1 foot longer and use apulstery snaps at teh floor. this is probably the simpler route but not as invisible. if anyone askes you can just say you dont know how to sew and didnt want to use glue.

MDF board, 3/4" to 1"

plexyglass of about 1" would be pimp looking if you have that kind of money

Thanks for the info. Dont have that kind of money (for plexiglass) but that would be real hot...ill think about it though.

i would not recomend acrylic(plexyglass) its verry prone to cracking and warping in mid range temps. if i were to recomend anything i would say that polycarbonate is the way to go. as far as cost its only slightly more expensive than acrylic and with polycarbonate you can go much thinner. a good place to get it at is www.mcmaster.com they can get you lengths up to 8x4 which should be more than enough. on another note id do the carpeted MDF myself as you said you wanted a place to HIDE a no2 bottle acrylic or polycarbonate would not hide anything.
