Offroad tire question...

I've noticed my SUV's tires don't read the same as other car's...
Normal cars would be read like 215/50/16, while my car's read something like 95.3x76... I don't exactly know the number, but you get my point...
Multiplying instead of dividing?

Try:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/size.htm

That will take care of the one type of tire sizing. While you are at it - Look up about P metric vs Euro metric (I prefer the term hard metric!)

The other type of sizing is called High Flotation. It consists of the overall diameter in inches, following by an "X", then the section width also in inches, then the type of tire (usually R for radial), the wheel diameter, then LT for Light Truck. Like this:

31X10.50R15LT

These tires come in Load Ranges and it is important that you select the right load range for your vehicle. It requires looking up the original size and what is being propsed in some load tables - which are too large to post on the Internet.

Hope this helps.
