Mitsubishi towing question.

I've got a 4cyl 4x2 1995 Mitsubishi pickup otherwise known as "Mighty Max" and I'm getting ready to move from Texas to Alabama. I'm going to be probably packing about 500-600lbs in the bed and then towing a 500lb motorcycle in a u-haul trailer. My question is if this is going to be bad for the tranny? I'm not sure what the max weight is for the truck but I figure the overall 1000lbs I'm looking to haul has got to be close to max for a 4cyl engine.

U-haul can determine the maximum weight you can carry safely in any vehicle , as well as towing capacity. They told me my '03 Grand Cherokee was not big enuff to haul my 92 Eclipse on a trailer , so I had to rent a larger truck. I beleive the formula was , the towing vehicle has to weigh 3 or 4 times what the towed vehicle weighs.....not real sure on that , its been a while .....

Have you checked your owner's manual?
