Riding a bicycle helps you drive a car better?!?

I use to ride my bike ALOT when I was 14-16 (about 3 hours a day) and when I got my licence and started driving a car, itr felt like riding a bicycle exept bieng a different position. Anyone else notice this??? I think bieng quick and agile on a bicycle helps you have better car control.

It's something that's been on my mind for a while, what do you think about it?

Im not sure about that but what i do know is that chopper bikes are VERY hard to ride.. And if riding teaches you good driving then once i figure out how to ride my chopper, i should be hella good :D

I have a moped, all the fun of a bicycle without all that damn pedeling!

Riding a bike on a regular basis certaintly makes you more aware of cyclists when you are driving.If you think that driving is just like cycling,your parents may have bought you a pedal car.......:wink:

Not a chopper, a mountain bike, or maybe a 'stunt' bike. Chopper is just for cruising.

I rode my bike like a maniac, always goin the fastest I could and ALWAYS presin the back brakes throwin the back around in cornes. The craziest thing I ever did with a bike was jump a 6 foot high flight of stairs...compared to the stunt riders, thats nothin, but to me that's INSANE :cool:

i was talking about me riding a chopper..

I know that riding my moped made me a better bike rider, not only was did I learn to use hand signals all the time, but I found easier routes (the route the requires the least pedaling on the moped, will be the easiest to ride through on the bike)
As for cars, I don't think I learned anything from either my moped or bike.

i think it would help you to learn how to control a vehicle and keep alert for hazards and such, but as for the actual DRIVING part, i don't see how, since the controls are so different...

and a slight difference in velocities.

You guys missed the point...when I went from bikes to cars, I felt like I was doin the same thing exept with traffic. I used the same agility I learned from a bike, the same reactions, the same everything. I even learned how to hold traction on a car if it locks up...which I learned from a bicycle. I still think it helpes me drive better today. :smile:

In riding a bike you learn proper brakeing distances and why it's good to slow down for sharp turns (going in) and accelerate out.. you can also learn about gears... well kinda. Anyways the idea of bikes related to cars is that you learn about how to control speed and things related to turning.

I'm kinda the same. Except i crave speed! Fastest recorded speed i've been on a bike is 67 km/h, but fastest estimated speed is probably inbetween 75-85 km/h.

But i still want to go faster. :sly:

Another thing i like doing on my bike is dragging cars at the lights. :icesangel Usually when i do that they pass me 5-10 seconds later. :D

One day i'll learn.

I never really ride my bike that much- but even still I can't see HOW it could make you a better driver- a more aware driver no doubt- but not a BETTER one

Fastest I've recorded was 87 kmh down Shotgun Hill (the name says it all :biggrin: )

Fastest speed I've maintained on a flat was 54 kmh during a race.

I beat a corolla with my bike once :biggrin: . Past 30 MPH... she took me :redface:
