When Brian pulls up in his skyline for the first race of the movie what is that smoke coming from the sides of his car?

i'm pretty sure thats purging the nitrous

someone i know did that in his Mercury Topaz (with a SHO engine conversion) and it went 6 ft into the air, really shocked people at the track to see a Topaz do that :)

I'm pretty sure its incase there might be an air bubble or something in the line.. Its like when they sqeeze the needle and shoot some juice out before they give it to you. (heroin) :p

purging is to get unwanted vapors out of the line like nitrous that has been sitting in there for a while, so when you start to spray its good fresh n2o!

How does the system purge? I mean like, do you have to do something extra, like install a "purge line" or something? I mean I dont want to sound stupid, but I'd really like to know. Where does the purged n2o come out of?

I've talked to a lot of real strip racers and they tell me that purging is unnecessary. You will want that old nitrous in the lines so that when you take off and hit the juice, it doesnt instantly burn the tires. it gives the slicks a chance to grab before the nitrous starts.

alotta ppl when they dyno their cars & dont purge the lines prior to spraying, actualy hav losses in the hp compared to purging...you dont get the full amount of hp your sprayin 4 w/o purging
