Thinking of buying a 1999 Accord V6 coupe

Hey guys. I was thinking of buying a 1999 Honda Accord V6 coupe with a v-tec engine, 52k miles, leather interior and seats, sliding sunroof, and cd player with all the other basic features. I wanted to describe the situation to you guys and see what your opinions were about this. The most important thing to note first is that is has been in an accident onthe front rear side near the left headlight and the hood. The person who is selling it to me is an individual dealer who owns a body shop and he fixed everything up after he bought it from the auction. His asking price is 8500 but i think i could probaly get it for 7500. Everything looked good from the outside with some minor defects that he can fix for us and it drove fine when i test drove it. The other thing that i noticed was that driver seat airbag was also gone, but i suppose that can be replaced as well. I am going to go get it checked out by a mechanic or a dealership tomorrow and see if there are any major problems with the car, if not, then i might purchase it. If there is anything wrong though, he said he would fix it for sure with no extra charge. Let me know what you guys think of my situation and whether it is worth it or not to even consider buying this car. Thanks.

$8,500 is pretty cheap.

biggest problem on that car is transmission, so pay attantion to how transmission shift, it shouldn't shift with jolts and slippage.

i own 99 AV6 and i know 98-99 AV6's didn't have side air bags they became avalable on 2000 AV6. ask dealer why that accord has seat with side air bag.

Thanks. I also wanted to add that it was an automatic, i forgot to mention that, but i figured most 99 accord coupes are automatic. Some of my friends were telling me that the alignment of the car could be screwed up if the airbag is gone, because that means the accident must have been somewhat severe. Anyone know that if the frame alignment is messed up if it can be repaired easily and if it is repaired, if it will give me problems later on or frequently? I think that and the transmission are the two main things to worry about, and if everything else checks out ok as well ill probaly get the car. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks

its hard to tell if there is any frame damage without seeing a car.
but frame can be fixed so alignment will be fine, it won't be as new but fine.

run your fingers through the frame and look for spot wields.

You know the car is already going to have a salvage title to it, so be sure you really want this car.

Have you checked out www.carfax.com yet? This will give you a better gauge as to how bad the damage was and if it has been involved in more than 1 accident.

Are the leather seats the OEM ones? Airbags are fairly expensive for the Accord even off of e-bay. I believe the average price is in the 900 range with the SRS module.

Can you take pictures of the damaged areas? Maybe we can assit you in spoting if there is any serious frame damage.
