I need simple directions to find/remove ecu from 95 eclipse

I'm trying to help a friend out. Her ecu went bad and we bought another one to replace it. She has a 95 eclipse (non turbo 5 speed, if that matters).

I figure it's behind the center console. How hard is it to switch? How much time and what tools?

thanks

the ecu is located behind the center console. if you remove the drivers side panel of the console you will have access to all the ecu plugs. as far as completely removing the unit i am not sure how difficult it would be but i imagine it should take no more than 3-4 hours to do the swap.

thanks.

3-4 hrs!!! Do you have to remove a bunch of other stuff to get to it?

like i said i have only needed to access my plugs, i am not sure what all else you might have to remove to be able to take the whole unit out, but if this much time is alloted to the project i am sure that it could be done, so they dont start the project thinking it would take an hour and be out of a ride to work cause they have their ecu half way out of the car, but if it needs replaced i guess they are out of a car any way. i think it could probably be done in two hours if a person is familiar with their car.

thanks again. We'll see what we got when I take the console apart.

Your service manual should have a detailed description on how to remove it.

It takes me about 20min to remove mine, but I've got 1G's

The 2G's is in the same position as the 1G's , just forward and a touch below the radio. The biggest thing is just getting the console out of the way , and possibly removing the radio , then unbolting the ECU from its brackets. 2G's are a bigger cluster **** than 1G's , at least the 1G's are pretty modular.

Non turbo ECU is in the engine bay, in front ofthe battery  The turbo 2g ECU comes out in no more than 5 minutes. REmove both side panels (on sides of center console) and remove 3 10mm bolts. Unplug 4 connectors. 5 minutes. You'll have to go back inside and punch the clown for 3 hours and 55 minutes to make this a 4 hour job

I think Kevin was reffering to the flat rate time to remove the ECU in a 2G is 4hrs, lol, what a crock

hey i can see the time estimation was a shitload off...lol. but like i said i havn't had to remove mine i just needed to splice into the plugs i wasn't sure how complicated it would be. so i looked like an ass, but at least the guy wouldn't have gottin into the project and ran out of time.
