Is it the tailights or the back-up lights?

the backup lights..i took it into the shop and they said it would cost over $600 to find the wiring problem..so to just leave it for now...my rear wiper blade doesnt work as well (but the license plate light does)...the previous owner said the rear wiper had never worked.....the fuses and backuplight switch are fine as well as the bulbs are fine..seems like a pretty expensive fix

you have a bad connection some where that is for sure. Go to the local parts store and buy a wire tester. Test it to make sure it works by connecting the clamp on the neg of your battery and then touch the post. it should light up. then go to the back of the jeep with it in reverse and check all of the connections from the back to the front. More than likely you have a bad switch in the tranny. It should only take about 30 min or so to find the bad connection depending on how good you are tracing the wire. then cut and slice then fix. No problem just take your time.
