tranny swap

I got a 98 integra ls automatic. My dad bid on a junk integra with a manual transmission. I always wanted a manual and im thinkin about getting them swapped if it wont cost a bunch and if it wont take forever to do . Let me know if u have done this or know about the situation and give me some pointers on if i should do it. Thanks

The first question is important, can you drive a stick?? I have had some friends do a tranny swap that don't have a clue how to drive a stick, then they do the swap and now they don't have a car. If you don't learn that first and foremost, see if a friend or one of your parents or someone will teach you. If you do, the next question is what year model is the junk integra. if its the same gen as your 98 then GO FOR IT!!! My god, I tried to do a tranny swap with my 97 Honda Accord V6 and Parts and Labor and all the payments were going to run up $9,785:bloated:!!! SO I decided not to but I was going to have to buy a new tranny, all new parts, all new mounts and everything. The only thing you might be paying is the labor, which MIGHT run you give or take $750. I'd say it's definitely worth it.

Just do it yourself. All you do is take off 5-6 bolts and bolt in the new one. You'll have to buy the ECU from the junkyard also as there are manual and auto computers. You'll have to rip out that ugly automatic shifter and put the new one in there, which is pretty easy. Make sure you have all the correct shift linkage and parts.
