the g35?

Does anyone know how much the g35 will cost? I've heard $22k-30k+; but based on the specs that are already available, how much would you guys think it would cost?

I've been deciding on the purchase of a 2002 g20 but if infiniti will be releasing the g35 next spring for about the same price I will want to wait until then to make my decision. However if the price range of the g35 will be somewhere in the $25k+ base I may just buy the g20 now (I need a car!)

Thanks in advance for your comments!

I think it'll be more like 28,000 - 32,000

Look at what the IS300 is selling for and the G35 will probably be a little cheaper.

I got me a small brochure on the G35. It didn't have too much info, but it did say that it would have 255hp. The Infiniti dealership said that they wouldn't have any real info till Jan/Feb 2003.

Its gonna have to be less expensive than their 350Z (their being Nissan). So 25K to 30K sounds about right.

Most likely the G35 will be priced around the same prices as the I35 from what I've heard. I seriously doubt you will be able to find one under 30K. If you are looking at a 2002 G20 I'm sure there are many deals to be had as the dealers are trying like hell to get rid of inventory. Also, there will be no more G20 so........

It really depends on what you are looking for. The G35 and the G20 are miles apart in every way.
RWD v. FWD
260HP v. 140HP
These are just the biggest two differences

The parts manager for Scottsdale Infiniti to our Yahoo! Infiniti Group that he had a dealer rep come in and give him the scoop on the upcoming Infiniti lineup! Here is his post:

"Hi all,
We had our factory Rep. at the Dealership on Thursday and this is what he had to say about future models:

APRIL '02:
The G35 4 door lands at dealers.
-260 HP
-3.5 L V6
-Rear wheel drive
-(you guys probably already knew all that!)
- Est. price: $29K - $34K

AUG '02-SPT '02:
-Yes it's true Infiniti finally gets it's coupe, a true sports car I might add.
-The 2 Door G35 lands (seen the pics UNBELEIVABLE)
-280 HP (there will be a timing difference from the 4 door model adding the extra horse.)
-3.5 L V6
-Optional 6 speed manual tranny, and all wheel drive.
-Convertible model design has been scrapped, sorry all!
-I have seen the pics (he wouldn't let me have them) and there are a lot of subtle differences between the 4 door and 2 door (flared fenders, lamp configuration, etc.)

APRIL '03
-The ugly as a you know what FX35/FX45 releases as a "cross over" vehicle. In all actuality I have seen the pics and it has been very refined and toned down, not too bad.
-get this, 20" factroy wheels!
-Standard 3.5 L V6 260HP optional 4.5 L V8 340 HP

SEPT '03
-Releasing a sedan un-named at this point but it is going to be a entry between the Q45 and I35, they are calling it the "Baby Q" or the "QE". They are claiming that it will carry the 3.5 L V6 standard and have the 4.5 L V8 option. It will have supposed similarities with the '97-'01 Q45 body styles.

Model Year '04 - '05:
-Releasing a full size SUV to compete with the Navigator, Expedtion, Tahoe, etc... Still in early development stages...I little late if you ask me!

I will keep all of you posted!
-Joe "

Looks like the new G will make the old a distant memory!

Why will you believe it when you see it? Its based on the Skyline, which is a 2-door in Japan! My source is VERY reliable for one thing, but go ahead a be a doubter, thats okay. I'll see you here again in about 9 months saying "sorry, you were right"!

Lets see what doesn't make sense here.

Oh yea a Infiniti G35 w/almost 300hp, 2 doors, and AWD?

You almost sound like your talking about a car that starts
with an S.

No offense, I just think is Bulshavic:flipa:

Hell I could be wrong, but when does that happen:rolleyes:

i believe a G35 Coupe is possible, this a US version Skyline you know, i've heard of a coupe version coming out late 2002, it'll share the same motor as the g35 sedan except the horseys are uped a little, probably will have the same engine specs of the 350Z. the AWD thing, maybe not, but still possible...

Brian P

i dont see why it wouldnt be possible to have AWD. the Infiniti GTR is supposed to be AWD, and that is going to be built off the same platform.

The coupe version of the G35 is supposed to be Infiniti's "350Z". It will be and then some! Look for it in the fall!

Gents,

In reference to previous attached email, I have heard 95% of the fact given about the new G35. It is true that the G35 4-door will be rear wheel drive with similar specs as that of the I35 (260 hp; ~256 ft-lb), only the G35 is more sporty. As far as the G35 2-door, its chasis is the same as the Nissan 350Z (ps there is no such car as the Infiniti 350Z as someone mentioned). The distinct difference is that the 350Z has more horsepower than the G35 2-door, approx 300 hp. As someone mentioned, the G35 2-door will produce 280 hp with 276 ft-lb torque. I am not aware of the AWD, however!

As for the price? I am hoping that it is not too expensive. A good approximation is to base it with the I35. If the 10K (CDN) difference justify the performance and looks, go for it. I personally think the look of the G20 is much better than the new G35!

Cheers.

I think you misunderstood me. What I said was that when the G35 comes out in a 2-door, 6-speed version that it will be Infiniti's "version of a 350Z", not that its going to be called a "Infiniti 350Z". Go to infiniti.com and see the G35.

About the 2-door, I got that from an insider with Infiniti. Wait and see!:flash:

Infiniti just officially released pricing, and the base MSRP is 27,100. Of course add a few options, and you're already looking at 30,000. I read an article that said the G35 will establish a new precedence for handling because of all the technology built into the suspension and bodyframe. Lexus better look out, this car is gonna be sweet. Wait for it!:bandit:

looks like a round family car.. dont liek it as much as the G20

Does anyone know how the shorter wheelbase on the G35 Coupe will effect seating? Obviously there will be less room, but will it still seat 2 children easily in the back? I consider a Thunderbird, Seville and G20 to be considered easy, not a SC430, XK8 or 911 though. Thanks. Do we have any sketches on the Coupe yet? I'm waiting on the 6spd in anycase.

I do agree that it isn't as distinctive as the G20 was, but with an additional 100hp, a better chassis, and rwd I'm far from complaining. We have a G20 and I30 in the family, but have favored my fathers Lexus GS to this point because of RWD. The GS is just a little rich for me with all my play cars on the side. I eagerly await a test drive.:flash:

That sketch rules. I saw the G35 at the L.A. Auto Show, and I must say I didn't like the looks of of too much. There was a sweet silver G20, which was awesome. Nissan better give the G35 Coupe more than 300 HP or else I doubt it will make much of an impact being overshadowed by the 350Z. The JDM R35 GTR's engine/HP choice is yet to be finalized, but insiders expect that that 276-HP gentlemen's agreement limit will be broken. I've heard numbers as high as 450PS(not sure what this is in HP, but it's more than 400, right?). I seriously doubt we'll see the G35 Coupe with that much power, but I think they'd be fools if they didn't kick it up to at least 300 HP.

ExhaustNote
02-03-2002, 11:26 AM
It’s extremely unlikely that the coupe will come with 300hp, let alone 300+hp. Expect something more along the lines of 280hp with 285~290hp being an optimistic peak.

For specific reasons neither car is to overshadow the other.

I recently went to a carshow where I has my first sighting of the G35. I think it looks rather elegant. Attracted a lot of attention. Not as much as the 350Z. I also spoke with the infinity product specialist. Her boyfriend works for BMW. Work has it that the boys at BMW are very worried. The G35 has more horses than any of the 3 series, handles just as well if not better.

Some wonderfull things are happening at nissan/infinity. It's about time. Next target? BMW X5.

I think the G35 coupe with have the same if not a little less HP than the 350Z (280-290). The G35 will appeal to those that need more than a two seater. If you are planning to buy a G35 and are a true sports enthusiast. I suggest you wait for the 6 speed manual due to come out as a 2004 model.

G-Forces

I've heard the six-speed will be available sooner. Like this fall. Nissan can't wait too long. There are too many potential buyers that will lose interest and buy a BMW.

The six-speed manual will be available in the coupe at launch. The sedan's release date is still up in the air (or at least is yet to be officially announced).

Anyone care to speculate or the numbers? We already know 260HP, 260 pounds of torque. What do you suppose the 0-60 numbers will be? I'm guessing 5.8-6.2 seconds. No more.

ok I just drove a g35 4 dr in austin, TX...

They are great... my wife pre-ordered one today...black on black sports package all the way....

anyhow... the 2 door is going to have 5-10 more hp than the nissan 350z.

That's what I was told by the manager of Austin Ininiti...

I don't know where you are coming up with specks like 300hp for the 350z...

it's been set at 280hp... it's on the nissan web site...

The thing that I suspect will be different is the 2dr 350z will may have 4 seats and the 350z has 2....

so the 2dr g35 may be heavier... who knows only time will tell...

I'm going to get which ever is faster... then I'm going to put it on the strip....
