someone please help. i have a 96 with a 2.4. i have a cold air intake, headers, free flow cat, cat back exhaust, and an underdrive pulley. i'm getting alot of fluctuations in the readings of the map sensor and the camshaft positioning sensors. it's not running like it should performance wise. when i first start up the car and it's cold, i can smell gas strongly in the exhaust and it hesitates for the first mile. hopefully someone can help me cause all garages i take it to are clueless. thanks

well the strong smell could because of your highflow cat...i have no cat on mine and get a pretty strong smell. so im sure the high flow cat lets some bad air through that has not such a pretty smell.

i think that maybe my wiring harness going to my pcm could be loose or need replaced. would that make the reading fluctuate or would that only make them fail if the connection was loose? i also have an air/fuel controller that digitally displays the tps reading, it also flashes between 2 readings? does the tps, cam p s, and the map sensor wires come from the same wiring clip on the pcm? there's 3 sets. i'd really appriciate any advice someone could give me. thanks

They do share a common groundwire!!!

do you mean the groundwire from the engine to the chasis, from the pcm to the chasis, or the wire comming off the sensors themselves? and if you could, the location it's at. i'd really appriciate it, thanks.

The PCM grounds are usually found on the transaxle to engine block mounting bolt...there should be one bolt with a stud on it with a gang of wires (usually black with a white tracer)
remove the wires, thighten the bolt, clean the mounting stud and wire rings and reattach.

thanks, i also see that there is no engine grounding strap on top the ignition housing, that's where i noticed the strap on a 2.3. is there supposed to be one on top of my 2.4?
