When buying a turbo kit...do you think it is necessary to throw down the 3000 or more for a brand new setup...or would a lightly used turbo kit off ebay or something be good...i have been looking around and i could pick up a used kit for around a 1000 or so...i am just curious to know if a used one would be shitty or not...

Ive had friends purchase from ebay type deals and recived a shitty deal....I would totally go with brand new that way I have the statisfaction knowing its new and its in the best shape...
So I would dish out the extra cash....:bigthumb:

New is the only way to go, unless you get such a good deal that it would be worth sending the turbo out to get it rebuilt. But with a new kit you know everything is going to be good, and not worn out/broken/messed with ETC.

that is what i was thinking...but 1000 for a full turbo kit also looks enticing....i am sure that a new turbo kit would be a whole lot better...

get a new one u never know how long they've used the turbo. turbos are supposed to be replaced every 100,000 miles so i've heard from the dealers, and the one u want might not have that much, but the problem is u don't know how many miles it has been driven. another thing too is i check out some of the turbos on ebay and they didn't offer intercoolers, were the buyers supposed to buy that separately?

yeah if you get a used one you have no clue how much they ragged on it with racing and stuff like that. The cartridge fins could be bent or broken, you really have no clue. Those ebay deals use goodlooking brand new turbo's and just call it there's to sell them. Yeah a new one is a lot more money, but it'll be cheaper in the long run. If you blow you turbo with a used one, you're screwed, I wouldn't feel like buying an entire new engine
