MK4 dash, 2.0 tranny???

Is there a way to make an MK4 gauge cluster read a 2.0 tranny speed sensor? As most of you know I helped my friend but a 1.8T and the dash in his 97 Jetta but we used the 2.0 tranny. Now we can't figure out how to make the speedo read the 2.0 tranny. And I'm not sure if it can read it because the 1.8t uses a wheel speed sensor not a sensor in the tranny. Does anyone know of someone the put an MK4 dash in their MK3? If they did do all the gauges work? Thanks a lot
