OK, I give up. How do you remove the power antenna on a '92 Maxima SE with Bose? Mine finally went during recent cold snaps. I can hear the motor run but it's stuck in the down position. I have the factory service manual and it looks simple there. Remove the antenna nut, then the antenna base. The diagrams aren' t useful in filling in the details. When I can just get a grip on the nut it just spins around, doesn' t unscrew. For the base I''ve tried using a pair of needle nose pliers with the tips stuck in the indentations on the base and tried to turn. Not a budge. It doesn' t feel like this is the way it comes off. Any hints or tricks? Thanks, Jim R.

Dude, most of the guys here so far have a 4th or 5th gen I think, I try posting your question....
Here (http://table.jps.net/~myork/maxima/Discussion/discussion.html)
When there are more 3rd gen guys here, I'm sure it will be better for those of the rattle free max..... ;)

it really is plain and simple. you take the nut off which is on top. then you need some really good pliers to get a good grip and just keep twisting and turning the lower part of the antenna while pulling up. they are a pain to get out but they don't come out. have to put some muscle into it. if you want, spray a little penetrating oil at the base of it. it will make a slight mess but it might help.
good luck
