My roomate picked up a Sega Dreamcast and this game came with it. I picked it up to see what its like, and it seems like a rip of the GT series, just with bad physics and a very very stupid automatic transmission. The part of the game i do like though, is the fact that you can design your own car. You can select the engine size and arrangement, if it is NA, turbocharged or supercharged, and you can choose from a few different body styles which all have different charicteristics.

I really like this game. I don't even have it, but it's the only reason why I want to get a cheap Dreamcast right now (plus the game is 10 bucks) after having played it for only 6 hours. Yeah it's kind of a rip of Gran Turismo (I even thought that Polyphony had helped in at first), but it's got a lot of things that GT doesn't have. The my most favorite aspect? It's NOT Gran Turismo. What does that mean? I've been getting sick of GT after having gone through all three; the series is REALLY repetetive, and SEGA GT feels like something new. Different tracks, different driving feel, different sounds--even an altered sound like the simple blow-off valve's discharge makes the game feel like something fresh and new. I just hope GT4 gives a new environment and stirs new emotions, rather than just better graphics. And the stuff you mention about the player's in depth tuneability also helps prove this point--I believe GT3 has fewer tuning choices than both GT2/GT1.

Yeah, but in Sega GT you can run your cars down the 1/4mile! Let's see you do that in GT3!

Now don't start :flamer: me! I love GT3 too dammit.

I did that pretty recently...dreamcast, $55...racing wheel, $50...pretty cheap, less than 1/3 of what a PS2& a racing wheel would cost. I also bought GT2 and Bleem, so I can use it on my dreamcast. Its great. Almost the graphics of GT3 with 5 times as many cars and better tuneability. You can run your cars down a 400m track in GT2, which is pretty close to 1/4 mile.

Right now I'm thankful my wife thinks my obsession with cars is okay...
all I usually do is (a)sit on AF...(b)play GT2...(c)drive/work on my real cars..............I really need a life:(

Who are you talking to? Psman32@af?

I think Gran Turismo was originally supposed to have a full blown drag racing competition, but was pulled out before release. But if you think about it, the drags are pretty boring, especially because in Japan, people don't drag race side by side as they do in the States; it's more of a time trial, to see who gets the better time. I guess that's what GT2's 0-400m test was all about.

Yeah GT2 was supposed to have it but was taken out at the last min, thats why you couldn't get 100% finished value in it. I wish GT3 had it. It has the 0-400 m test, but no other cars. I hope the next version has it.

Sega GT2 is coming out on XBox soon. Hopefully this time it will be more noticed than it was before. Or will the next Gran Turismo (not GT-Concept) leave it in the dust?
