If I were to get some 18 inch rims , would my speedo still work properly or would it need to be calibrated or something.
I've been thinking of getting some rims recently and thought this may be a problem.

it wont make a difference if the outside diameter of the tire is the same.... so basically you'd get a tire that has a very short sidewall

no, u will have to get them recalibrated, b/c they r so much bigger than the stock tires, the car will think you're going slower than you're actually going. read this (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t115952.html) , this guy got pulled over for speeding, bigger wheels

How much would that cost?
If its too much I'll just save my money and not even get rims.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but my new rwheels are about a quarter of an inch smaller in diameter than my stock wheels, how big of a difference will this make in my speedo???

1-2mph depending on overall circumference with tires.
