When I picked up my new Rocket( v6 mt w/ navi) The Dealership offered something called RoadBlock. It is like an invisible bra. It is made by 3m and it is a sheet of plastic material that is put on the front end of the car, lights, and mirrors. It protects from bugs, sandblasts and small rocks.
I had it installed and you cant even see it!

Leave it up to the dealer to rip you off! That stuff is a great idea, the only thing i dont like is that it turns yellow after a while becoming noticeable. Dont follow closey & you wont need to worry about rock chips. I use something similar on my Vette when going to & from shows. This product is removeable w/ no surface damage. It applies on the lower fender area behind the tires to prevent rock chips, paint spattler, tar splatter, etc then removed prior to showing.
VIN etching cost the dealer $20 for the kit & that takes car of 10 cars. They re-sell for over $100 - sometimes even more. Fabric protector, paint sealant, undercoating are also a huge rip-off. You can apply the same stuff for under $10 per product & have left over for other cars you may own or re-application.
