EGR boss

I got my D16Z6 head! Yay!

Ok here's the deal. I was comparing it to my VX (D15Z1) head and from the outside a difference I saw was that the EGR port on the D16 head was blocked off from the factory. Now, what I am doing is swapping out the head in my VX because the D16 has bigger valves and stuff. The VX came with an EGR system, unlike most other Civics (maybe the CX has EGR?). The EGR mounts on the intake manifold on the VX. My question is if the ECM will cry "foul!" (CEL) if I install the VX intake (w/EGR) on the D16 head without boring out the EGR port first? I am guessing that opening it up will lower the potential HP gain (however small it may be) so I want to keep it closed. What do you think?

I am really tight on the budget so I am not doing a full Mini-me swap.

if you plan on having a controled vtec you need the si or ex ecu anyway so you wont have to worry egr codes from that ecu.

The head was from an EX, so I will get the ECU from an EX next. But until then I will hook up the EGR system as a dummy to try and keep the CEL from going off. Wonder if it will work....?
