ok i'm hookin everything together, got some questions tho:
with the half shafts, i know they should just slide in but mine still have an inch to go. should i just put alot of force on them? i also still need to replace the rings on the ends
on the wiring harness, on the plug with two prongs, does it matter which prong goes on which post?
i found what looks to be like antifreeze in the speedo cable housing. i just soaked it up, should this be fine? also, the end of the speedo cable started coming out, bring out hte wire too, i just slid it back in and put the cable in the housing, is this ok? and should it snap into place or anything or does hte rubber housing hold it into place?
thats all for now...

the speedometer cable should have a little metal clip holding it in.

for the axles... just put some force into it and they should slip right in... and if you are talking about the clips on the tranny side of them at the end... they shouldn't have to be replaced... i've pulled mine quite a few times and the clip has always done its job of holding them in...

ok i was just wondering on hte shaft clips/rings b/c it says to replace them... still kinda confused on the speedo cable clip but i'll figure it out.
but on the wiring harness clips, i'm still lost on that.

this is where the two-pronged plug is on the block, on the back
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/313326AAAA0231.JPG
these are the two plugs on the harness. note the two plugs inside of the casing
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/862215AAAA0232.JPG
one plug has a green and yellow wire, the other has a black wire
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/351407AAAA0233.JPG
so does it matter which plug goes on which prong?
onto the speedo cable clip, can someone point out to where the clip goes?
with rubber housing on
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/572745AAAA0234.JPG
without the rubber housing
http://files.automotiveforums.com/uploads/217433AAAA0235.JPG
another question, does the A/C line coming from the fire wall have any kinks in it, or is it all flowing and rounded? i think i bent mine when i was getting it outta the way. doesn't matter too much as my A/C doesn't work, but it will someday

the a/c lines should be nice and smooth, no kinks, the prong im not sure of, but i hope you find out, i gotta put on my wire harness soon.
and the halfshafts you just need to press harder, they will go on.

YES!!! i found out about the speedo clip, there is actually a groove cut out of the housing that the clip falls into :-)
another question tho, how much play should be in the timing belt?

The single plug goes on the single prong, it is for the oil sending unit. The thing with 2 prongs is the Thermoswitch. When it senses your coolant is at a certain temp it completes the circuit between those 2 wires and turns on your fans. It does not matter which one goes on which prong.

that's what i wanted to hear :) i plugged them in and just crossed my fingers but now i know i'm good.
as for hte timing belt, i have a little bit of slack, but i think its too much... so now i fear that i have to take the pulley off again and tighten it. BUT i took off the little black plastic plug thing from the lower timing belt cover so that the tensioner bolt is showing, so can i do it without taking anything off? also, concerning the timing belt cover, should i keep them on? i'm thinkin yes just for hte fact of keeping crap off of it.

yeah a 14mm socket and 3/8 rachet will loosen the tensioner right up then grab a 17 mm,, extension and 1/2 racket and turn the crank pulley CCW and the belt will tighten up then tighten down the tensioner... and i run w/o my top timing belt cover but def. always keep the bottom one on

ok i'm having to take a break b/c my car is just pissin me off... i've been trying to get to the tensioner bolt but its so freakin cramped around it. and when i got the ratchet on it, itkept popping off when i put force on it (i wasgoing from below), so i'm now afraid i may have started stripping the head of the bolt... so any more tips on this, or just keep trying? also, why would the timing belt be loose on one side and tight on the other? its tight on the right side of the cam pulley and tight on the left side...
