Help Me please I am stumped. Yesterday I was sitting at a red light when all of the sudden my baby died! I thought maybe it just stalled out, so I shifted to park, turned the key.. and nothing ( no dash lights power windows, power door locks, hood release, or anything. ) I dont even get a solenoid click the car acts like there is no battery in it ( except the dome lights ) I Tested the battery and altenator and nothing was wrong with them. Any help would be appreciated greatly as it is raining right now and my windows will not go up:(

How can you check the alternator without the car running? Anyway, recheck the battery or give it a boost. If nothing happens check for broken wires/fusable links around the starter area. Good luck.

Well I put in the starter and wouldnt you know everything works!! The only problem now is at high RPM's my battery light comes on. The altenator also isnt putting out any juice!! It was before, any clues? You have been more than helpful and once again I would like to thank you:biggrin:

If the alternator is not putting out any juice, checke the main altenator to battery wire. If the continuity and connections are good, then the alternator is faulty.

The belt is turning the altenator, But I cracked the altenator were the second hold down bolt goes thru! I saw the Battery light come on so I tryed to tighten it thinking that was the problem and wouldnt you know it snap right through the bracket. When my car died the first thing I thought was the Altenator so I brought it to Auto Zone and they said it was good. It turned out to be the starter solenoid, but now when the cars ruinning I only have 12 volts at the battery ( constant I havnt had to jump it yet ) and with my Voltameter hooked up to the wire coming out of the Altenator I have 0 ( I did have 14 volts ) go figure....

Well I dropped the starter and I have a total of 4 wires I think the three big one go on the big terminal and the tiny one on the s terminal Why isnt there a ground? Any ideas?

the bolt that secures the starter on to the block is your ground. Make sure those bolts are clean and tight.

How's the tune up? Look at the ignition wire where they plug into the spark plug (boot). If it is black on the inside replace the wires as a set. Another thing, look around for a broken, dislodged of cracked vacuum hose. Good Luck.

If this is a V6, you need to do an idle relearn.
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery for about 30 seconds.
Clean the throttle bore
Reattach the battery cable, chock the front wheels really good and apply the parking brake. For safety sake, just sit in the car with your foot on the regular brake pedal!!!!! Start the engine and put the trans in Drive. Let the engine sit and idle in gear for about 30 minutes or until the cooling fan comes on. Shut the engine off for a couple minutes and then restart and let the engine idle in gear for about 10 minutes.
This procedure will relearn the idle.

if the engine lugs real bad coming to a stop (like a manual transmission that you forgot to push in the clutch), you might have a TCC soleniod going bad.
