e30 performance

i have an 85 318i and i'm looking for some cheap (under 100) performance upgrades...any websites or suggestions would be appreciated

Drop-in K&N filter. Might have to modify the stock airbox to really get the most out of it. But like Tech said, most initial mods will cost closer to $200

There is really not much benefit from modifying the stock airbox. You can put a plate by the filter to try and block off some of the engine heat but it doesn't do too much. The filter is about the best way to go for cheap. Have fun/.

thanks...well i might have some extra cash lying around...what would be some mods under maybe $500 i could get...also how much would a k&n filter be and how much will it increase my hp and torque?

I know a K&N filter should be around 30$, maybe worth about 3-5hp, torque the same. 500 I need to do some checking for you as far as Dinan is concerned.

A full cold air intake system would be like 200-250. Engine chip 250. A set of springs or dampers or swaybars could maybe be found for under 500. Wheels and tires 80 each. Exhaust 500 and up. Really depends on what youre looking to do, and what quality you want.

mikepilot, i have a JC chip from tms. Mine remaps the fuel delivery and spark timing across the rev range, raises the rev limiter, and i think removes the top speed governor. Its been once of the best mods for the money i've done so far.

about how much is a chip for my 89 325i e30? and how hard is it to put in? does it make the car noticably faster? i would like to beat these punk kids in their ricers that drive by my house late at night and as i pass i want to keep the foriegn relations going :thefinger

$250, about a half hour to put in, yes it makes the car noticably faster, and you shouldny have to worry about beating up the local ricers. Most guys have civics with an intake, farter, and stickers. your stock E30 can walk all over them (if you have a manual). check out www.turnermotorsport.com for chips. JC chips are the best, dinan chips only work at full throttle.

everywhere i look i can't find a chip for my 318..all i see is for the 325's....will this work in my car or does anyone have a link to a site that has 1985 318 chips.

www.dinanbmw.com and www.turnermotorsport.com. I checked them out the other day and one of them has chips for the 1985 318i. I forget which. Better to call each.
