Just got an 85 rx-7, 1st mod??

Hello all. I am new to the RX-7 and rotory engines (im still learning about how they work). I recently purchased an 85 RX-7. THe 12A was rebuilt about 1 year ago and it has a brand new clutch. It has new radiator and generally looks like it has been taken care of (has a little rust). and the best part.........it was $500. I was wondering where to start with the mods... any advice????

how many miles does it have on it?Not sure about the mods you should do first, dont know much about rotary's either.

First, I would suggest getting the rust taken care of, wouldn't really want that to spread...:tongue:

Well ill only have it for a year so im not worried about the rust. Just looking for some cheap horsepower about $400 is what i have to put into it for fun. THinking intake, pullys, reg tune up (plug wires all that good stuff) and dont know if there are any special cheap things i can do. Isnt this an RX-7 board? Thought i would have more of a response :(

take everything non essential off the motor...if it has ac...dont need it....power steering,.....thats all crap too lol....tkae out the carpet in the trunk ......open uip the exhaust a lil ....like remove the cats....simple stuff.....my friend in maryland has an 84 12a running 15 flat...with almost no mods...it all depends on how fast you want to go in the next year

Exhaust is the best mod for any engine, and there is a great rx7 forum its called rx7club.com. they are pretty friendly and very informative.
