need some input

What would you guys do. You all know that if you remove the license plate of an EK there are these holes that remain. Since I'm repainting the front bumper I'm now thinking of removing them.

i would remove them ... and put the licence plate more down .. in the 'bumper hole' if it fits ... (it would be more nice to have an italian type front licence plate : ) ... but you live in belgium... : ( )

I actuelly tried to put the license plate of centre/ more to the driver side like on the Alfa's, but I wasn't able to make a stable license plate support. So now my plate just hangs in the air intake thingie...

Now the bumper is ready for the painter. I'm bringing it in next week and I hope I will have him back in time for the AVB meeting. They told me it wouldn't be a problem, but you never know.

how did you fill up the holes, with some polyester or something like that? why did you have to repaint your bumper? because it's kinda costly I think, so there should be a reason ...

I filled the holes with some 2 component glue. I talked to some guys before I started and they told me not to use polyester on a plastic bumper because the plastic bumper will expand (with heat or cold) at a different rate then the polyester, and it would crack.

I already had to paint a front lip, so I just put the front bumper on the list... It will be a little costly, but I was kinda getting tired of some other holes (that the very intelligent mechanics at a Honda garage:rolleyes: drilled -extra- to hold my license plate). So I just cleaned it completely...

i find this little weird cos havin no plate with smooth bumper looks great but is only good for shows. you have to have plate for normal drivin about so your stuck with same kinda problem relocating plate. just confused alittle here.

if its any help i have 1 of those aem u.s style plate holders if you want it but you need u.s type plate which you can easily have made. got it with my aem cai.

I still have my license plate, I relocated it to were it is on the pic (few posts above). IMO it just looks better without that black plastic thing that is supposed to hold the license plate on the front bumper...

right see what you mean. your totally right about it would look better without holder. i had same problem when fitted my custom mesh grill from u.s. it didnt have cut for that black plate holder (partly attached through the lower grill as you know). though about doin similat thing and just stickin plate onto bumper but too much messin about and didnt want to mess with bumper. in the end i just had to cut some of the mesh.

BUT to make plate bit look better i just bought new set of fancier number plates and chrome surrounds to make it look a lot better. havnt got pics or i would have shown ya. my car is silver with oem chrome grill surround and badge so it matches up really well.

the difference in expanding of different materials is always a problem ... an old friend of mine had the space between bumpers and fenders (you now what i mean ... all those spaces) ... filled up and repainted his whole car ... it lookes real nice, beautifull ... but the problem is, for how long does it look that beautifull ... i dont think your 'tiny' holes will be a problem though ...

Got my clean bumper back today. I'm glad I removed the spots.

Plans for tomorrow: waxing the hell out of my car and prepping it for AVB...
