civic turbo?

im going to buy a 95 civic ex sedan, i think it would make a sweet sleeper. one question though, whould a greddy bolt on turbo kit work on a sedan? its a v-tech engine(1.6 sohc) i think so, but im not sure. thanx-mike

IMO too many turbo civcs out there to be a trully surprising sleeper......

most people that ive seen around milwaukee all have n/a engines

but any ways, would it work on a 4 door

1.6 L sohc v-tech d16z stock ex engine, greddy bolt on turbo kit, the kits made for 92-95 ex/si civics, i was just wondering if it would make a difference puting it on a sedan, installation wise.

i don't think it matters.....as long as the engine and the engine bay are the same it will make no difference.....

thanx, is auto x fun? is it like rally racing? another thing, do you think it would be smart to up grade the internals of the motor, like a metal head gasket or lower compression pistons so i could raise the boost a little bit? i think the greddy kit is only 6psi or something like that?

there is also rally cross which is a rally version of auto-x

First of all, there is no h in VTEC........ Sorry that bothers me.
All 5th gen engine bay's are pretty much identical dimension wise.

i dun like turbocharged in a civic...i fink its not worf it unless ur a serious racer....alternativly id put a b18c5 or even a b20 if itll fit...it depends whether if you wanna show off your turboed ride(evryone knows that honda's engine life gets halved by turbo) then go with the turbo but if you like some green light gunning i rekon the b18c5 is good enough.... turbo is good but i have no idea how you can counter the engine life loss

good point, i agree to some degree. i like turbos. plus the greddy kit is carb exempt. swaping a motor is hard to pass emisions were i live, its a lot of money to get it done right. im sure as hell not going to do it my self. a turbo kit would take me long enough to install.

hmm go to www.honda-tech.com...there are people there who have instructions how to do engine swaps...proper ones... my cousin put in a b16a into his civic from one of these instructions and its working like a charm...just gotta do the ecu and hell be doin tracks in no time....i asked my brother he says the b16a performs better than the b18c5 i agree becos civic type Rs r usin b16s over b18s...givit a go...my cuz's works...no reason why yours shouldnt :cool:

oh yeh i forgot it only took my cousin 1 full day to complete the engine swap including pipes and ecus and stuff..he wouldve finished it in 1 day if he had the ecu with him but he had to scrape sum more cash :2cents:

How is it not worth it unless you're a serious racer? I daily drive my civic, and it's a blast to have a turbo on there and a ton of power on hand. I boost daily, and it's more fun than having a 200 WHP all motor car.

unless you wanna replace ur engine get a new engine every 1 - 5 years i think its pointless....but i think i have better things to do with 2 grand year not buying a new engine just for "fun". i dunno whereabouts you live but here if someone can grab 2000 AUD freehand its pretty good. not all of us can replace our engines every fortyear. i think if we all had so much money wed be driving skyline GTR V-Spec 2's, 350z turbo's and Evo's wouldnt you think?

someone get a civic and chop off a front end of a gt-t r34 and chuck in a RB26, HKS ball-bearing twin turbos, twin trust intercoolers and ATTESA 4wd....man id love to see that happen...oh and gt-t front end too

lol. If you need to replace your motor every year, or even every 4 years, you're doing something wrong. Either you made a mistake during assembly of the motor, used parts that wern't up to par with what you needed, or your tune sucked. Usually it's having a sucky tune that kills motors.

DRAG turbo kits aren't worth the money. I sell them along with Greddy, Edelbrock, Apexi, RevHard, and MaxRev kits. They are the worst kits you can buy for a stock internal D-series motor. The Turbonetics T34 isn't that great and it's too large to spool reasonably. For a stock motor, you'll wantg a smaller, faster-spooling turbo kit such as the new Greddy 19T or the older 15G, or possibly the new Edelbrock kit. The Apexi kit was great, but is now discontinued for the Civics.
