Spark plug upgrade - worth it?

i was told that stock ignition components do not fully combust all the fuel. so i was thinking of getting some new spark plugs because i might as well be turning that wasted gas into power by fully combusting it. i was also told, however, that upgrading the ignition on a b18a can HURT performance rather than help it?

anyway i went to kragen and they have NGK plugs (dont remember if they're iridium or not) for $1.99 each. i went to autozone and they have BOSCH platinum +4 for $5.99 each, BOSCH platinum +2 for $3.99 each, or DENSO iridium for $26.99 each.

what plugs would be best? im going to buy OBX 10.3mm plug wires as well. would the NGK work best if they were iridium, and if not the BOSCH platinum +4's right? im not spending $116 on DENSO's (4 x 26.99 + 7.25% CA tax) even if they're the best...

what ever u do don't get the +4 from bosch they lose power quickly, i had some for a crx and thought it would be cool to get them.i felt more power for a month or so them it just went back to normalwhat a rip. if u gonna get wires , please don't get obx. think their generic personally, get the best nology wires, they cost 180 around their, but gotta be worth it . i would get some right now but since i have to pay for tuition and books first that has too wait.

Stay away from platinum tips unless the car orginally came from the factory with them installed.

MSD wires:bigthumb:

someone on generation 2 integra club told me to get the NGK's even if they arent iridum.

a friend also told me that as long as your wires are bigger than 8mm then its good, so i figured that 10.3mm would be nice... guess ill go with the MSD wires then :D

I have 10.3 mm wires and bosch platinum +4 plugs on my 93 gs-r.... when i installed them i was freakin amazed at the difference (of course my wires were comletely shot beforehand) my car was QUICK but they have in the past year that i have had them lost some performance they are still better than stock but they are definitely not like they were the first month or so.

I think I paid 11.99 ea on optionsautosalon.com for the Denso Iridium Plugs. I've been happy so far with them. My gas mi increased about 20 mi to a tank. Runs better in hot weather as well.

you paid $11.99 per plug? HAHA How big was the jar of vasoline they came with? I think I pay $5.00 @ my cost from the dealer for ALL FOUR plugs.

OK I have alot of experience with honda Ignition systems and I can tell you that the best way to go is with NGK or Denso plugs. Also stay away from MSD wires they are nothing but crap!!!! I had a set of MSD super conductors and they sucked ass big time!! Now I have a set of ACCEL and they are great. The MSD's did not fit tightly on the valve cover and they were poorly put together etc. But the ACCEL's fit perfect and I think they made a improvement over the MSD's. Just my opinon and experience though.:bigthumb:

I have heard & seen that most aftermarket plug wire dont fit correctly on the valve cover. My MSD dont sit like the stockers did, but oh well. Shit happens, its only plug wires. NGK will fit the best if thats what your worried about.
