You might want to look at the JWT ECU with 7200 RPM rev limiter. The combination of that and the MEVI gives you freaking haul-ass top end. Talk about a highway eater! When you get a MEVI, make sure you get the cover. And I would definitely recommend the ECU. Very important.

When you say JWT ECU do you get it reprogrammed or do you buy another unit form them? I just to know in case I want to make this mod and need to plan for not having my car driveable.

Well, you can do one of two things. Either send your stock ECU in for about 3-4 weeks and get it reprogrammed or you can buy the same kind of ECU (in your case, a 98 SE ECU) and send it to them and have it reprogrammed. You would be able to keep your car driveable and you could sell your stock ECU ,just like you bought another one, or keep it for one reason or another.

Jet makes ECU's for OBD-II maximas. I seen them on custommaxima.com. And also they have a 10whp gain from this mod.

i've heard bad things about jet. like people's gas mileage getting cut substantially and never ending CEL's

It's a different intake manifold (originally on middle eastern maximas, hence the name "middle eastern variable intake") that has a dual plenum design. Basically, it shortens the length of the runners at higher engine speeds to create more power at high rpms. I don't know all the technical details, but here's a thread on the org that has a bunch of info and links about the MEVI http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=217001
