Keyless Entry System on our van?

We just bought a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan. The dealership only had a single key, and no remote keyless entry device. If the system is already installed in the van, I would like to buy the keychain devices and program them to our van. However, I don't even know if the system is there. Anyone know how I can find out?
It's pretty much loaded with most features you can think of, including an alarm system, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's there... I'm just not sure how to find out.
Thanks much in advance!

Ok, so I called a dealership and they simply looked up the VIN and they were able to tell me that it is indeed installed. They said they can give me a couple of the keychains for 44 bucks a pop! Man, that's expensive... so a couple more questions:
Is there a place online I can buy them for cheaper?
Can I program them myself? If so, how?
Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks. Comes to $40 from that site. $4 difference. That's a little better.

I just saw your question. I have bought several remotes on Ebay for under $6.00 check which one you need and look under auto, dodge, caravan, remote entry. that should work. or just do a search.

Not sure about 98 but on 97 the remote has to be programmed with a scan tool. If you had a remote that worked you could use it to program another one. Keep this in mind in case you loose one. Check at other dealerships in your area. You would be surprised at the difference in price I have received buy calling all dealers in my area. I bought one for my mother-in-law for 32 on her 97. The dealer may charge you for programming if you do not buy the remote form them.

I'm trying to get the information on programing for a 99 Caravan. I haven't had a chance to ask my friend if he has his manual but I will. I get conflicting answers from Dodge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Bob J.

I think I can find out the procedure for programing a remote but you will need one that is working already. Otherwise you need a scan tool with Dodge software. I will not have acess to info untill Monday or Tuesday.

I bought a RKE on E-Bay for 12 dollars. The dealer wanted 25 to program it. A friend had a service manual for a 97 Caravan. Its under power door locks. It took me two min to program it. Its like 6 paragraphs long and you have to hold the unlock button for so long while pressing the new RKE. I dont remember the exact way. If you need I can get the manual get you the exact way. Its easy I would have been mad to pay a dealer that money for a minute of time.

The content of this article reflects the changes called out by TSB 26-09-99.
PROGRAMMING RKE MODULE
1. Using a functional key fob transmitter, unlock the vehicle and disarm the Vehicle Theft Security System.
2. Insert ignition key into the ignition switch. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position without starting engine.
3. Using a functional key fob transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button for a minimum four seconds (maximum ten seconds).
4. While holding UNLOCK button, and before ten seconds passes, press and release the PANIC button. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module is set to receive the new Vehicle Access Code(s).
5. Within 30 seconds of the chime, press and release the "LOCK" and "UNLOCK" buttons on the transmitter at the same time. Then press any one of the buttons. The BCM will sound an abbreviated chime to acknowledge that the programming of the transmitter has been completed and was successful.
6. Repeat step 6 for all transmitters that will be used with this vehicle (up to 4 total).
7. Programming mode will last for 30 seconds. To get out of programming mode sooner, turn the ignition OFF. A single chime will sound to verify that the RKE module will no longer accept additional Vehicle Access Code(s).
8. When Vehicle Access Code(s) programming is complete, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position and verify RKE system operation using each key fob. NOTE: Only the two key fob transmitters that have been programmed to the memory seat and mirror system will operate it. if any key fob is replaced, the memory seat and mirror module will require programming.

Call your dealer with the VIN#, they will be able to tell you if your van is so equipped. You can pick up transmitters from ebay for much less than at your dealer and you can get programming information on this forum for your model Caravan.
