oppinions on the 3rd gen eclipse?

what are you're guys' thoughts on the 3rd gen. eclipse vs. 2nd gen, 1st gen.?

Personally, I think the 3gs are underpowered, overweight, ugly, and a travesty to the Mitsu name.....but thats just me:bigthumb:

how can they put a v6 from a (nice at best) touring car. then they dont continue the awd and makee it heavier i dont think it was time for the eclipse to die but it is time for the lancer to run.

My brother has a 2k1 Eclipse and I really like it. It is suprisingly quick (im not the best judge of speed i drive a Ford POS) but it is quite enjoyable and fun. Also it handles pretty damn well.

y not stick with what was working 2liter turbo 4 banger all wheel drive.

That is a question we all have. I guess you go with what sells. Only 8% (feel free to correct me) of the E/T/L s were AWD/Turbo.

It's pretty much gone downhill since the 1G.

i kinda agree with that statement the only reason y wiould like gen2 more is cuz its newer then gen1 but i did at one time like gen1 a whole lot more and now i completely dispies gen3.

To me the 3g is the drunk fat nasty girl that no one picks up at a bar/party until REALLY late at night. No one really wants to drive it, it looks bad sitting still/moving, and you'll never tell your friends you hit it/drove it.

You think thats quick , try a real car........1G......:cool:

I test drove one , just to see , back when they first came out. The GT is only fair acceleration wise , and the V6 refuses to rev freely , unlike the 4G63. Its also nose heavy and turns like a drunk elephant. The poor front tires are way overworked and underpaid. The AWD in the previous gens helped with balance a lot , thats the first thing I noticed missing in this car. And the absence of AWD certainly hurts trying decent launchs. The one I drove was not even LSD , so a one-tire-fire was all I could manage. Hopefully , if the Eclipse name lasts to a 4G generation , that Mitsu puts things back the way they should be. Unfortunately , they may not , because it might hurt Evo sales. But I for one would look forward to an AWD , 2-door , sports car , again. Not the sedans like we have now...........:mad:

yeah I know im not a good judge of speed, i drive a Ford POS. I have never driven a 1G, but i wouldnt mind one. Just IMO it is pretty quick.

great interior. i love the seats. the outside is alright. not my favorite.the doors are the worst.now on to the motor. not that fast at all. just MHO.
