riiiiight... my ignorant opinion... the car should not have been brought back by GM... it's laughable... it's ugly for starters and to top it off it puts out a (unofficial) whopping 163hp@6000rpm and 155 ft/lbs@4000 rpm SUPERCHARGED.... it comes with a 1.6L I4... it tops out around 130 and that's if you push it IN 6TH FUCKING GEAR... then you have the regular cooper that puts out 116hp@6k rpm and 110 ft/[email protected] and it doesn't even come with DOHC it's still single... and through all of that you're still paying for premium gas and cramming yourself into this itty bitty car that looks like a fuckin retarded taxi... so before you tell me i'm ignorant... look at the specs please :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger

P.S. before you rag my ass about GM i'm not sure if they bought out MINI or not i don't really care.. this is just something that a friend told me when we were discussing the mini coopers... the specs are there and numbers don't lie

well you know the base model del Sol came with a whopping 106 hp. I know a guy who has built that same block up to 600hp. With work anything is possible. :)

I'm aware of what you were referring to and if it makes you feel better I'll post using proper grammer and typing. The point I was making was my entire post was about the lack of performance and you people nit pick on something I openly admitted to being a mistake, and had NOTHING to do with the purpose of my post. Also the stock bodied del sol didn't come supercharged. Also if you were using ignorant in the correct sense in reference to my post, why is it that it has nothing but factual information with the GM reference aside. Also thanks for calling me arrogant, even though I can admit that I've made mistakes. At least I don't hold myself to criticize others small mistakes. Good job dick. Also I can figure out what's important in a post... not the small minor details. The point in my post wasn't about who brought back the Cooper, but what little potential it has. It's funny how you missed the entire point when it was so obvious.:lol:

Thank you for your compliment...but YOU need to stop trashing the Mini, it's faster than your RX-7. Single cam does'nt automatically make it a bad car, look at some of the domestic racers, they're single cam and thier owners LOVE thier cars! I've seen single cam 4 cylenders do 10 second 1/4 mile passes WITHOUT a turbo/nitrous/SC. I hated this car when it first came out, but the more I looked into it, the more I liked it. The mini might be slow with numbers, but the only number that matters is the one on your door/bonnet when you're racing...and this car can race regardless of it's HP level.

I agree with parts of this post. My old RX-7 was not quite as slow as the MINI I assure you. Were there aftermarket parts on it? Yes, but I just hold a personal grudge agaist the MINI Cooper. Love the car all you want that's your choice but my OPINION of that car can't be called ignorant... I also still believe it's worthless. The comment on single cams is true too. I was just stating that the car could be given a boost with dual cams but BMW left them out... I just don't understand why they would do that.

I'm still tryng to figure out why it's SOHC. Maybe save money? BMW thought that maybe the potential owners of the car wouldnt be "speed-freaks" and they would'nt really care wether it was DOHC or SOHC, maybe. That's just what I'm guessing. :dunno:
