I saw quite a bit more swearing in last month's SCC (G Games). Now where could this be coming from i don't know how about umm...SATAN! hah but seriously, I think we get enough of that everywhere else we go. I like that I can enjoy wholesome things like reading my fav magazine SCC and be free from the mucky muck for a bit. I woulda expected it from another magazine. Just my opinion, curious to see what others think.
Now isn't that special?

The way I look at it is like this:
Every day, we're subjected to stuff that, pretty much, is beyond our meager abilities to control. We deal with it in our own ways. Some of us play "moral majority" and harp on the ills of cussin' :argue: and fussin on the "fiber of our society".
Others simply add to it by swearing, etc... even more !
I'm not trying to draw lines in the sand or anything, so don't construe this as that kinda thread. This is generally my opinion, and I just take things as they come. I don't swear, which makes a lot of people look at me funny, but it really doesn't bother me that others around me do it, either. It's their lives. I just won't let myself be drawn down there, is all.
Just MY $0.02 worth!!
But yeah, Juan.... I noticed how they just let loose the "old sailor, pottymouth" editorials in there, too!

some editors uses more YIKES words to spice up the reading that's all...in my opinion, it makes the reading a bit more interesting and definitely catches one's attention..and isnt that what an good article is suppose to do?

I get it for the articles... I too think that the curse words just add to the editor's mood, and they put them in there to "spice" up the reading. I don't mind it, i think in most cases it helps their writing, but only to a point, there is a point where it gets excessive.

Doesn't bother me any. It just shows everyone that the editors are just like everyone else. The less Honda thing is good too!

The cussing is juvenile at best..... a crutch for unimaginative writers.
The best auto journalist of our time, Leonard J.K. Setright, would never stoop so low. If he belittled someone, they wouldn't even know he'd pulled it off unless they first consulted an Oxford Dictionary, a Roget's Thesaurus and a tenured English professor.
This is just one reason I'd rather read one British CAR magazine rather than a dozen magazines focusing on how to install A-pillar gauges, yellow brake drums, mating-call stereos and 7-inch tailpipes on a Civic.

Have you read SCC lately? They are actually moving away from the 7" tailpipes, yellow stuff, stereo stuff, etc.. (aka rice). I've been very pleased in the route they are taking the magazine. I've been getting SCC since 1997... so i have a couple past issues to compare :D

i agree...as someone who enjoys writing i believe that you can see exactly a person's character though their words.
I think it has to do with the image that comes with car racing, like it's a macho thing to be into cars.
